The Teachers and Students of the School of New Media Technology Won Good Results in the National Vocational Skills Competition

On June 26, the "Virtual Reality (VR) Design and Production” competition event for the high vocational group of the 2021 National Vocational College Skills Competition came to an end in Fuzhou. The competition was jointly sponsored by 36 ministries and commissions including the Ministry of Education, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Tianjin Municipal People’s Government. Students Liu Haiyan, Li Lianhuan, and Xie Xiang majoring in Digital Media Technology in the School of New Media Technology, under the guidance of teachers Li Huiyi and Zhang Jing won the National Second Prize on behalf of the Hunan Provincial Team.

This skill competition is participated by the contestants from 27 provinces and autonomous regions across the country. All contestants have gone through layers of selection in the school competitions, provincial competitions, and provincial training trials to be qualified for the provincial teams to attend the national competitions. The content of the VR Design and Production competition event includes the VR modeling, VR engine production, action interactive production, VR project design and professional quality, covering the entire process of virtual reality design and production project development. The event lasted two days and reflected the contestants excellent comprehensive quality in the application and development of virtual reality projects.

The Digital Media Technology Specialty of the School of New Media Technology is closely connected with the digital media field of the media industry, and has built a "3D workshop + digital media project" talent training pattern with professional characteristics. The School has always adhered to the promotion of teaching and learning by competition to improve students' skill level. In recent years, remarkable achievements have been made in professional education, demonstrated by students good results in competitions. There were 18 national-level awards and 39 provincial-level awards. Among them, there were 2 first prizes and 2 second prizes in national vocational college skills competitions, and 7 first prizes in the provincial contests.
