The Department of Ideological and Political Education was founded in November 2008. It was formerly known as the Common Required Course Department. It undertakes the teaching tasks of the four common required courses: Introduction to Mao Zedong Thought and Socialist Theory with Chinese Characteristics, Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Law Fundamentals, Current Politics and Employment, and Intelligence and Psychological Health. It also undertakes the teaching tasks of the two optional courses: the professional law course and the liberal education course. There are four teaching and research offices in the department: the Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Law Fundamental Teaching and Research Office, the Ideological and Political Education Teaching and Research Office, the Current Politics and Employment Teaching and Research Office and the Intelligence and Psychological Health Teaching and Research Office. At present, the department has 31 teachers (15 full-time teachers including 10 party members, one professor, one associate professor, eight lecturers, two teaching assistants, one national first-level psychological consultation teacher, two national second-level psychological consultation teachers, nine teachers with master degrees and one doctoral candidate. 16 part-time teachers including 11 party members, one professor, four associate professors, two senior political workers, five lecturers, one teaching assistant, six teachers with master degrees and one doctoral candidate). This teaching team is a high-level teaching team with high political qualifications and a good age structure in the college.

The college and the department often arrange for the teachers to participate in and attend the relevant teaching meetings so that the teachers can timely learn the latest news and development trend in the ideological and political theory aspect, master the advanced education ideas and learn beneficial experiences from the sister colleges, which may improve the teaching level of the ideological and political courses. The innovation in the teaching method has achieved expected obvious effects. The innovation measures in the teaching method and reform of the ideological and political theory courses have been well implemented and have achieved good teaching effects. It has cultivated the abilities of the students to analyze and solve the actual problems and it has been favored by the students. The Current Politics and Employment Teaching and Research Office and the Recruitment and Employment Office jointly give employment guides to the students and the employment rate of the students is always at a leading position, compared with those of the colleges of the same kind. The Intelligence and Psychological Health Teaching and Research Office and the Student Affairs Department are respectively responsible for the teaching and the psychological consultancy work and they provide high-quality psychological consultation services for the teachers and students.
