May 12, 2021 is the 13th National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Day. In order to enhance the safety awareness of disaster prevention and mitigation of teachers and students on campus, improve the ability of emergency evacuation, and meet the requirement of "do substantive work for the masses" practical activity in the Implementation Plan for Party History Study Education, the college and the Changsha County Fire Rescue Brigade carried out publicity and education activity of disaster prevention and mitigation fire safety in our college. Vice President of HNMMC, Jiang Minquan, attended the event. The activity was also witnessed by the relevant responsible persons in the Security Department, the Students’ Affairs Office, and the secondary schools, more than 10 firefighters from the Changsha County Fire Rescue Brigade and nearly 500 representatives of teachers and students.

The activity was held in a variety of forms in the teaching building D101 and the front courtyard, including fire fighting knowledge lecture, evacuation drill, publicity materials distribution and illustration, fire equipment display, equipment explanation and try-on experience, simulated escape experience from the flue, fire extinguishers practice and so on. In the classroom, firefighters conducted question-and-answer interactions with students. All of the students were enthusiastic under an active atmosphere. During the Q&A, the publicists presented the "Handbook of Common Sense on Disaster Prevention and Mitigation" to teachers and students. During the drill, the firefighters explained patiently and meticulously, and demonstrated in an accurate and standardized manner, attracting the full attention of the teachers and students. Everyone showed great interest in practices and conducted the actions in a proper and correct way. The teachers and students said that this activity enriched their knowledge of fire safety, raised the awareness of disaster prevention and mitigation and improved the ability of self-protection and self-prevention.

Vice President Jiang Minquan made a concluding speech at the event that the establishment of the "Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Day" reflected the Party and the country's governing concept of "people first, life first" and great emphasis on disaster prevention and mitigation work. It is of great significance to carry out disaster prevention and mitigation fire drills and bring science knowledge to the campus on such a commemorative day. Through a series of activities, we were given a good disaster prevention and mitigation fire safety lesson, strengthened awareness and ability in disaster prevention and mitigation fire safety and evacuation. The similar activities were expected to conducted more in the future.

The purpose of this activity is to do a good job on campus safety, innovate fire protection publicity ways, broaden fire protection publicity channels, and expand the fire protection publicity volunteer team, so that teachers and students can have a more intuitive and effective understanding of fire protection knowledge, be a part in communicating fire protection knowledge to better prevent and curb campus fire accidents.
