On the afternoon of April 9, the college held a psychological crisis intervention conversation training for counselors. This training was delivered by Dr. Dai Ji, director of the Mental Health Education Center of Hunan University of Technology and Business, and attended by teachers from the Students Affairs Office, student officers of secondary schools, and all counselors.
Peng Tao, director of the Students Affairs Office, presided over and made a speech. Peng stressed that the college has always attached importance to the mental health of students. Counselors, who work at the forefront, must be proficient in the skills of psychological crisis intervention conversation to effectively protect students’ mental health.
At first, Dr. Dai explained several common pathological psychological crises, and gave a detailed introduction to the manifestations and coping approaches to depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia according to the cases. Next, he described the characteristics and manifestations of developmental psychological crisis, situational crisis and existential crisis. Finally, Dr. Dai dwelt on the two goals and six steps for the counselors during a psychological crisis conversation. In the lecture, role-playing experience performances were combined with theory teaching, making the on-site atmosphere warm and lively.
This lecture has given loads of practical knowledge, which benefited to all people present. It also showed a guiding significance in improving the effectiveness of our college’s student management and mental health education.
