2021 Vocational Education Week Serial Reports- the School of International Communication Held a Lecture on Teaching Ability Competition

On May 10th, the School of International Communication invited Wen Tao, an engineer from Changsha Aeronautical Vocational and Technical College and the first prize winner of the National Vocational College Teaching Ability Competition, to give a special lecture, titled with “Promoting Reform and Innovation through Competition, Project Overall Design and Preparation for the Teaching Ability Competition.

The lecture contains four aspects: the first is the development process of the competition. The Teaching Ability Competition of the National Vocational College Skills Competition is the only competition in teachers teaching ability that is officially organized by the Ministry of Education. It has been launched for a decade and has gone through stages of the informatization teaching competition and the teaching ability contest. The second is the design of teaching projects. On the basis of carefully studying the competition plan, teachers must clarify the overall design ideas, scientifically analyse the learning characteristics and teaching objectives, restructure the project in line with the teaching standards, and appropriately incorporate the ideological and political elements of the curriculum. The third is the design of teaching mode. It is necessary to select appropriate teaching methods, elaborately design teaching materials, determine reasonable evaluation methods, record teaching videos as required, carefully prepare various manuscripts, and make simulation drill in advance to build an integrated smart teaching environment. The fourth is the preparation experience. The participation in the competition is a process of testing the theoretical basis of team teaching reform, enhancing team teaching innovation ability, presenting the results of teaching reform, and comprehensively improving teachers' teaching ability.

The teachers expressed that the lectures are highly targeted and instructive, showing its guiding function not only for the upcoming teaching competency competition, but also for professional construction, curriculum construction and classroom teaching design.
