On the morning of November 12, the colorful flags wave on the sports field, where is full of youth vitality. The college held the opening ceremony of the 20th Sports Meeting and the 17th Sports Meeting for Faculty. College leaders Yuan Weikun, Ma Yujun, Liu Guoqing, Jiang Minquan, Cheng Guizhen, Xu Jingxue, Lei Junlin, Xie Jingwei attended the meeting. Seated on the rostrum were the deans of the secondary schools, the secretaries of the Party branches, and the principals of all offices and departments. The opening ceremony was presided over by Vice President Lei Junlin.
The sports meeting kicked off in the exciting Athletes March. The national flag guards were uniform and escorted the Five-Starred Red Flag. With the solemn national anthem, the red flag fluttered in the wind and rose slowly. All members stood up and sang the national anthem.
Surrounded by the reverberations of the national anthem, President Ma Yujun delivered an enthusiastic speech. Ma pointed out that we should never stop doing sports to pursue health and develop a good habit of daily exercise. With a good body to resist illness, we can lay a solid foundation to concentrate on studying, work with peace of mind, and live a happy life. Ma Yujun emphasized that in order to promote students to develop the good habit of lifelong exercise, they should put down their mobile phones, walk out of the dormitory, step into the playground, rush to the stadium, challenging themselves to keep fit and improving personality. Ma hoped that the referees would be loyal to their duties, enforce the law impartially, and the all staff perform their own tasks in a concerted heart and wished all the athletes excellent results and the sport meeting a success.
14 phalanx teams composed of more than 700 students from six secondary schools entered the field in turn. The students from each phalanx presented a well-designed performance to the audience. Glamorous costumes, expressiveness, distinctive layout, and uniform movements demonstrated not only the demeanor of HNMMC students but also the spirit of teamwork, reflecting their patriotism, love for the college, and spirit striving to make progress in the new era.
The chief referee's teacher Lin Yun of the Physical Education Department announced the discipline of the sports meeting to all athletes. Tan Lingjuan, student of Class 1905 of News Acquisition, Editing and Production Specialty in the School of Journalism and Communication, representing all the athletes, and teacher Xie Ping of the Physical Education Department, representing all the referee, took the oath.
