After twenty years of pursing dreams, we are in the bloom of youth. On the morning of December 30, 2020, the 20th Anniversary Meeting of the Founding of Hunan Mass Media Vocational and Technical College was held in the gymnasium. Leaders at all levels, distinguished guests, teachers, students and alumni gathered together for celebration of the grand event.

Yuan Weikun, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College, presided over the meeting, and President Ma Yujun delivered a keynote address. Present at the meeting were Wang Kemin, Deputy Secretary and Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People’s Congress; Chen Baiyu, former Deputy Director of the Provincial Education Commission, Deputy Secretary of the Party Leadership Group, Deputy Secretary of the University Working Committee, State Educational Inspector, Educational Inspector-general of the Hunan Provincial People’s Government, and Honorary President of the College, Wang Renxiang, Deputy Director of the Education Department of Hunan Province, Mao Liangcai, Deputy Secretary and Deputy Director of the Hunan Provincial Radio and Television Bureau; Feng Jin, Deputy Director of Hunan Broadcasting System; Peng Zhengqiu, Deputy Magistrate of Changsha County; Fang Linyou, former Party Secretary of the College and Vice President of Hunan Radio and Television University; Feng Yisu, former President of the College; Qi Renjie, former Vice-president of the College and President of Hunan Vocational College of Science and Technology; Yu Weiliang, Director of the Vocational Education and Adult Education Division of the Education Department of Hunan Province; Zhou Qiong, Director of Personnel Division of Hunan Provincial Radio and Television Bureau; He Zhanbing, Secretary of Party Committee and Director of Hunan Educational Television Station; Tan Ke, Director of Administrative Office of Hunan Broadcasting System. Teachers, students, guests and representatives of alumni were all together to celebrate the 20th birthday of HNMMC.

The Anniversary meeting kicked off with the solemn national anthem.

Wang Kemin, on behalf of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People's Congress, expressed the warmest congratulations to HNMMC. He addressed that in the past 20 years, HNMMC carried out reform and opening up through forging ahead. From the first "reform experiment field" of the "college combining with TV station" higher vocational education, to Hunan Provincial model college and national backbone higher vocational college, and then to an "excellent higher vocational college", HNMMC wrote her glorious chapter in line with national development, national rejuvenation, and educational mission. In the two decades, the college cultivated a large number of outstanding talents for the construction of Hunan's strategy of building a strong province with culture and media industry development, and for providing more elites for the Xiang army of culture and the Xiang army of the broadcasting and television, which have made great contributions to the economic construction and social development of Hunan province. It’s practice of "Creativity Lights up Your Life " has condensed a solid cultural heritage and spiritual wealth, moisturizing things silently, and penetrating the mission and responsibility of students. He hoped that HNMMC will follow General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important discourse on education, especially the spirit of the important instructions of General Secretary Xi’s work in Hunan as a guide, conscientiously implement the provincial Party Committee’s "Three Highs and Four News" strategy, keeping in mind strengthening moral education and cultivating talents for the Party and the country. The college should be based on its advantages and give full play to characteristics with new responsibilities and higher requirements in the golden period of national vocational education reform and development, aiming to make more contributions in cultivating technical talents, building modern vocational education system with characteristics of Hunan province, deepening the reform of the vocational education system and mechanism, serving for the high-quality development of Hunan cultural industry, and the great cause of building a modernized new Hunan.

Wang Renxiang, Mao Liangcai and Feng Jin, respectively delivered speeches on behalf of the Education Department of Hunan Province, Hunan Provincial Radio and Television Bureau, and Hunan Broadcasting System, to extend congratulations on the 20th anniversary of HNMMC.

While presiding over the conference, Yuan Weikun, on behalf of the College, expressed highest respect and sincere gratitude to the leaders at all levels and friends from all walks of life who have been selflessly caring and sincerely helping the construction and development of the College, to all previous leadership who worked diligently and pioneered in hardship, to the faculty and staff who love the College as their home and work silently and unconditionally, to all the students who study hard for lofty ambitions, and to the alumni who are always concerned about their Alma Mater and willing to serve her worthily.

In the keynote speech, Ma Yujun retrospected the development of the college in the past 20 years and described the outlook of the college’s development. He pointed out that in the past two decades, HNMMC took advantage of the advance of Hunan media industry and cultural industry, actively connecting with regional pillar industries and serving the strategy of building a culturally powerful province in response to the call of building a cultural power. It has achieved the construction of the first batch of national backbone higher vocational colleges and the construction of the first batch of outstanding vocational colleges in Hunan province, added luster to the Chinese culture "going global" and "Chinese Bridge" brand, and won the “Cradle of Xiang Army of Radio and Television”. In the twenty years of strengthening moral education and cultivating talents, the College has always kept in mind the mission of educating talents for the Party and the Country. In the twenty years of school-enterprise cooperation and the integration of industry and education, the college has always adhered to the principles of co-construction, sharing, and win-win cooperation. In the twenty years of international exchanges and open-up schooling, the college has always maintained a domestic-based and international-oriented attitude. In the twenty years of students-oriented and educating students with culture, the college has never wavered its pursuit of civilized construction and achievement sharing. The process of the college’s 20 years of sailing and pursuing dreams is a pioneering history of unremitting self-improvement, a reform history of continuous innovation, an enterprising history of tackling challenges, and a history of the whole college’s teachers, students and employees to work and struggle together in a concerted effort. In the expected future, the college will be committed to building a first-class applied university with high-level characteristics, rooting in the land of China, integrating into industrial development, and exploring the prospective development path for higher vocational education.

Mengqing, alumni representative, one the the first graduates of the college, chairman and general manager of Hunan Xiaoxiang Cinema Investment Management Co., Ltd., stated that the college’s vocational education concept of the integration of production and education not only taught the students knowledge but also made everyone comprehend reflection and exploration and learn how to behave. When one drinks water, one must not forget where it comes from. The alma mater is the source of alumni’s strength to step into the society, embark on a journey, and start a business. He hoped that in the new journey, all alumni would stay with their alma mater, bear the original aspirations in mind, and never slacken their efforts to make the alma mater better and better.

Inspired by the two decades of diligent entrepreneurship, we will continue to write the chapter of life and play the song of the Century. In the anthem of Hunan Mass Media Vocational and Technical College, the 20th anniversary meeting successfully concluded. After the meeting, the teachers and students presented wonderful performances. The meeting was broadcasted live through "Internet Plus", receiving 540,000 social hits and more than 55,000 alumni’ online and offline interaction to jointly send best wishes to the alma mater.
