The Second Board Meeting was Held on the Chinese Language Center at Villa College, Maldives

Recently, the second board meeting was held on the Chinese Language Center at Villa College, Maldives. This meeting marked the first in-person gathering of the three collaborating institutions since the establishment of the Chinese Language Center. Attendees included Fan Wen, Vice President of Chang'an University, Ali Najeeb, Vice Rector of Villa College, Xie Jingwei, Deputy Secretary of the CPC HNMMC Committee, Zhang Wei, Dean of the International Education School of Chang'an University, Ms. Mariyam Nazviya, Director of the International Relations Office at Villa College, Wang Tao, Director of the International Exchange Division of HNMMC, Liu Yu, Director of the Chinese Language Center from the Chinese side, and Dr. Ahmed Anwar, Director from the Maldivian side, who chaired the meeting.

At the meeting, reports from the Chinese Language Center regarding the preparatory work for the establishment of the Center at Villa College, as well as financial expenditures were reviewed and deliberated upon. Additionally, reports on the operational status of the Center since its inauguration, financial expenditures, the work plan for the next year, and financial budget were presented. Attendees expressed their appreciation for the achievements of the Chinese Language Center in teaching and cultural activities and offered specific suggestions for improving the next year's work plan, financial budget, and ensuring the sustainable development of the Center.

The meeting emphasized the need for the Chinese Language Center at Villa College to innovate and practice international Chinese education in the new era. In addition to providing quality Chinese language instruction and organizing Chinese cultural activities, the Center should actively explore new sources of students from the outer islands, expand Chinese teaching bases, and collaborate with enterprises to provide specialized Chinese language education to meet the demands of the Maldivian people for learning Chinese. Furthermore, the Chinese Language Center should continue to serve as a bridge and link, facilitating talent development and scientific research cooperation between Chinese and Maldivian universities, enhancing academic and cultural exchanges among students and faculty from different institutions, and contributing to the construction of a China-Maldives community with a shared future.

After the meeting, board members visited the Embassy of the Peoples Republic of China in the Republic of Maldives and met with H.E.Ambassador Wang Lixin, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Maldives. Ambassador Wang expressed the embassy's consistent support for the development of the Chinese Language Center. She expressed the hope that both institutions would enhance their support for the Chinese Language Center and collaborate closely with Villa College. This collaboration extends beyond international Chinese education and cultural dissemination; it also involves actively establishing an educational and academic cooperation platform among the three institutions. The aim is to promote cultural exchanges, enhance mutual understanding, and cultivate uniqueness in the operation of the Chinese Language Center at Villa College.

During their visit to the Maldives, Xie Jingwei and his delegation also visited Villa College, Villa Group, and its affiliated enterprises, conducted on-site inspections of the Chinese Language Center's offices and teaching facilities, and extended their gratitude to Chinese language teacher volunteers.
