On November 20, the 23rd Student Congress of HNMMC was held in the Academic Lecture Hall. 218 official representatives and 17 non-voting representatives gathered together to provide suggestions and contribute to the high-quality development of the college. Li Sanfu, the Secretary of the Party Committee of HNMMC, He Zhanbing, the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of HNMMC, Vice Presidents of HNMMC Xu Jingxue and Lei Junlin attended the meeting. Heads of relevant departments, secretaries of the general Party branches of secondary schools, secretary general of student unions, and instructors attended the conference.
At nine o'clock in the morning, the solemn national anthem sounded and the conference began.
In the warm applause, Li Sanfu delivered a speech. He conveyed the spirit of the 20th National Congress of CPC and led everyone to study the important thoughts of General Secretary Xi Jinping on youth work and the important discourse on education. Li Sanfu fully affirmed the work of the 22nd Student Union, pointing out that young students should strengthen their theoretical armament with firm ideals and beliefs, shoulder the responsibility of the times and be determined to strive, develop excellent skills through solid and diligent work, and refine their moral characters while cultivating noble sentiments. He hoped that the student union organizations at all levels would adhere to the fundamental purpose of "serving students wholeheartedly", unite and lead all young students to firmly follow the Party and advance to a new journey.
He Zhanbing pointed out that the student congress system is the institutional arrangement for students to discuss student affairs and participate in campus governance, which is the legal basis and source of authority of the student union organization. The consolidation and perfection of the student congress system is the "bull's eye" of deepening the reform of the student union, and the standardization of the student congress is a "mandatory course" for the student union. The student congress should be held with "strict rules" for "real deliberations" and "accurate selection of people", so as to create a new situation of the work of the student union in HNMMC and make greater contribution to the college’s high-quality development!
Peng Tao, Director of the Student Affairs Division, delivered a closing speech. He requested that the student unions at all levels of the college to unswervingly promote the comprehensive strict governance of the unions to deepen the development, putting political strictness in the first place, taking the standardization of the organization as the key, and setting the strict and practical working style as the focus, so as to truly become an advanced and vigorous student organization that can reassure the Party, satisfy teachers and students, and be recognized by the community.
At the meeting, the executive chairman of the 22nd Student Union, Zhao Jiacheng, made a work report to the conference, calling on the student union organization and all staff to strive for building a politically reliable, idealistic, and caring student union team with an active and aspirant appearance, which would unite and lead all students to contribute their youthful power to promote the high-quality development of the college.
The conference received congratulatory letters from 42 peer institutions in the province, including Hunan University. The principals of the student union organizations from Changsha University, Changsha Normal University, Hunan Traditional Chinese Medical College, Hunan Polytechnic of Water Resources and Electric Power, Hunan Vocational College of Art and Hunan College of Information came to congratulate the conference.
The congress revised the Constitution of the Student Union of Hunan Mass Media Vocational and Technical College, elected the officers of the 23rd Student Union and the members of the Permanent Representative Committee of the 23rd Student Congress. 6 student representatives from each delegation spoke at the conference, and the newly elected officers made their statements. In the group discussion of each delegation, the delegates exchanged their speeches, actively contributed ideas and suggestions, studied and discussed the leaders' speeches, and considered the work reports and relevant documents, demonstrating the vigorous youthful appearance of the students of HNMMC.
During the conference, Li Sanfu and He Zhanbing met with the presidium of the 22nd Student Union and members of the permanent representative committee to extend heartfelt thanks to them on behalf of the Party Committee and Administration of the college, and presented them with the books "Xi Jinping and Friends of University and College Students ". At the same time, they met with the candidates of the presidium and the permanent representative committee of the 23rd Student Union and expressed high expectations for them.
"I am on the Teli Avenue, and rain drops wash the V Valley with flowing light..." At 5:00 p.m., the conference successfully completed all the agendas and closed in a triumphant manner with the sound of the high-spirited school song.
