On the evening of September 22, the college invited the Changsha County Public Security Bureau to the campus and held a lively and diverse safety education lecture for more than 3,400 freshmen in the athletic field. The lecture was observed by college’s vice president Jiang Minquan, the directors of the Security Office, the Student Affairs Office, secondary schools and the relevant departments of the Changsha County Public Security Bureau.
At the lecture, Yang Wen, deputy captain of the network supervision brigade of the Changsha County Public Security Bureau, gave an introduction on the prevention of telecommunications network fraud. Yang Wen illustrated the nature and characteristics of the new type of telecommunications network fraud to teachers and students via short videos and PPT courseware. He also shared some true cases of common telecom fraud that happened around us, such as rebate fraud by a part-time job of click farming, fraud by impersonating online shopping customer service, acquaintances, and loan customer service, fake investment and wealth management platforms, and “campus loan” scams. Yang exposed the tricks used by scammers and put forward relevant countermeasures. He helped the freshmen know how to recognize, prevent, and stay away from fraud, reminded them not to be greedy for small gains or be part of the fraud inadvertently serving as a "accomplice" of fraudsters.
The police also promoted the "National Anti-Fraud Center" APP to present teachers and students, so that they can more intuitively recognize the ubiquitous fraud traps in the virtual world and stay away from telecom fraud. The teachers and students said that they would love to share this app to their classmates and family members immediately.
Wen Jian, deputy director of the Political Work Office of the Changsha County Public Security Bureau, made an interaction with students to deepen their impression, and invited five students who performed well to participate in a series of police and civilian activities conducted by the Public Security Bureau in the future.
Police officers from Xingsha Squadron, Traffic Police Brigade of Changsha County, gave a traffic safety education lecture. By presenting traffic accident cases happened in Changsha County on PPT, they told the students about the real and miserable accidents to educate them to realize the serious harm to individuals, families and society caused by non-compliance with traffic rules.
After the promotion, teachers and students expressed that they benefited a lot. Through the education on traffic safety, students enhanced their safety awareness, realizing that a person can only live once. Hence, as a social citizen, we must abide by traffic rules and cherish life. The education on preventing telecommunications network fraud enabled us to learn about the forms, methods and features of telecommunications network fraud, and master the skills of identifying fraud. In the future, we would continue to be vigilant to prevent telecommunications network fraud and avoid being engaged in fraud activities to realize zero "fraud" on campus.
