"Golden Lesson" is Broadcast, Lighting up “Your Life” in the Cloud

In order to guarantee students’ learning during the epidemic prevention and control and reduce the impact of the delayed reopening of the college on teaching work, teachers of the Specialty of Broadcasting and Hosting in Hunan Mass Media Vocational & Technical College actively responded to the Ministry of Education’s call for “suspension of classes without stopping teaching and studying”, by using network information tools, integrating teaching resources, and innovating online teaching models. They managed to transform the results of the 2019 National Vocational College Teachers’ Teaching Ability Competition into “teaching productivity”, integrating the online teaching process with the educational philosophy of “establishing the fundamental task of establishing morals” and “students orientation”, and the "new formats, new models, new technologies, new processes, and new specifications in the context of media integration". Through mastering students’ study condition, carrying out projects, setting benchmarks, and strengthening characteristics, teachers educate and cultivate talents in a quiet way.

Teacher Lv Xinyan's "Cloud Classroom"


        Track all students’ information. If the classroom is regarded as a "content product", the "user portrait" by teachers in the Specialty of Broadcasting and Hosting can be considered precise. More than 400 hundreds of students’ information archive including students' hobbies, love status, roommates, parents, friends, college entrance examination scores and performance in each semester, is a hard-earned result by nearly a thousand phone calls, countless WeChat texts and one-month students conditions tracking. From Broadcasting and Hosting Class 1801, the monitor mentioned the first "Cloud Class", "Our teacher knows us too much, inchuding who likes playing games, who has procrastination, who is an active member in the class, who has strong expressive ability, who has solid business in the late stage, and who has failed records in the exams etc. She even knew that clearly at the first class. It seemed that she has known us for a long time." Teachers put each student in the heart, take each student’s learning ability into consideration, and know each student's learning appeal so as to stimulate their enthusiasm for learning, and achieve targeted teaching in online education.         Original leading, golden class” moves forward to the cloud. There is no online course resource available for the "Art and Literature Works" course to use. What to do? "Build from scratch" by ourselves! Teachers bought equipment at their own expense, made videos, set up scenes, recorded courses, searching information and calling for help so as not to delay any class. Since the course "New Media Program Hosting" does not have a textbook across the country, the teachers searched professional books on new media on network, investigating new media companies and preparing lessons online collectively, and independently compiled a school-based teaching textbook of "New Media Program Hosting" course. In order to improve the online courses and avoid shortcomings, teacher Lv Xinyan dared to break through the inherent model of online teaching, tried new methods of online teaching, such as experts solving the problems in the class, doing demonstration by two teachers in the live broadcast, and creating original by jointly cooperating with other specialties. Under her leadership, the original radio play of "Salute to the Most Beautiful Heroes in Harm’s Way", co-produced by students majoring in Broadcasting and Hosting, and Film Television Directors, has been shown on Himalaya platform, achieving the integration of student skills training, innovation spirit training, and "craftsman" spirit shaping. Hearing their own voices on Himalayan, the teachers and students shed tears of excitement and happiness. Since launching online teaching, teachers of Broadcasting and Hosting Specialty have led students to produce and distribute 43 original audio works, 14 episode of original radio plays, and 136 original short videos. The students gradually changed their receptive learning into inquiry learning, and the teachers also turned the closed teaching into an open one. None of students was absent in the online class, and the completion rate of homework reached 100%. These original products, courses, and textbooks are not only the teaching results of the "Golden Class" in the cloud by the teachers, but also their interpretation of the school motto of "Creativity Lights Up Your Life".

Since the start of the "Cloud Classroom" teaching in March, teachers of the Broadcasting and Hosting Specialty have integrated the "epidemic" story, excellent Chinese culture, and revolutionary culture into the "Cloud Classroom" to make the ideological and political conception visible, touchable, and be kept in the mind. "Give me a poem, which is enough to comfort my travel fatigue" . Students were encouraged to get spiritual nourishment in the form of poetry recitation and cheer for the people in the epidemic area. "Dialect reminds you of nostalgia" . Teachers guided students to relive the humanities story of their hometown with the help of famous prose. "Salute to the smartest heroes in harm’s way". The original radio play is made in praise of the “angles in white for their braveness the fearlessness to save the word. "Wonderful night at the museum" guided students to establish a public welfare spirit and inherit historical culture in the world of historical relics. In the context of the national war against the epidemic, teachers should make good use of the "living textbooks" of the epidemic, integrating the ideological and political elements from multiple dimensions, dynamically combining the education in life, belief, science, and morality with specialized courses, and connecting educating people with cultivating talents. In this way, the implementation path of curriculum for ideology and politics has been innovated, and students can be guided to lay a solid foundation for their ideals and beliefs.
