During the battle against "epidemic", countless "heroes in harm’s way" struggled on the battlefield”. On the teaching path of this special period, people with high aspirations and determination are also required. Since the school's online teaching has been fully implemented, the College English teaching team of the School of International Communication has been deployed in accordance with the university to work together to prepare meticulously and teach carefully, subtly integrating ideological elements into English class, which is popular among young students.

For example, Zhou Yingying, the director of the English Teaching and Research Office, keeps the course content up to date, focusing on social hotspots and drawing fresh educational materials from the national battle against the epidemic, which provides a chance for students to experience both special and meaningful English during the epidemic prevention "Cloud Classroom".

Before the class, she carried out class topic discussions on hot issues on Super Star. For instance, she arranged students to watch the World Health Organization’s promotional video about the COVID-19, allowing them to refine the main points and answering related questions, so as to popularize the knowledge of the epidemic prevention, understand the harm caused by the virus and improve self-prevention awareness.

In the class, she utilized traditional Chinese festivals during the epidemic period to guide students to explain festival customs in English by sharing the screen, recite poems and stories of historical figures related to the festival, so that students can explain traditional Chinese culture in English, which is helpful for them to establish a correct cultural outlook and enhance ideological and political literacy and cultural awareness.

After the class, in addition to giving regular assignments, she carried out teaching activities that reflected the core values such as "Dubbing of Inspirational Anti-epidemic Speech". For example, she encouraged students to dub an inspirational anti-epidemic English reading video "We are All Fighters", so that students can deeply experience what attitude they should uphold in times of national crisis, so as to help students understand life, awe for life, and respect life

Teacher Zhou Yingying combined the ideological and political education elements into the knowledge system teaching according to the characteristics of the course, silently leading the value shaping of students.
