To further enhance the level of teaching and research work, and promote the connotation development of the college's educational cause, the 2023 Teaching and Research Work Commendation Conference of our college was held in the Academic Lecture Hall of the Library on December 26th. More than 330 representatives including all college leaders, middle-level cadres, and teachers from secondary schools (teaching departments) attended the meeting. The conference was chaired by Vice President Shen Jianfei.

President He Zhanbing delivered a keynote report entitled "Fostering a New Situation in College Teaching and Research Work with the 'Double High Plan' as the Starting Point and the Goal of Enhancing the Level of Education". He comprehensively reviewed the gratifying achievements made by the college in the past three years in ideological and political education, professional system construction, high-quality curriculum and textbook construction, teacher team building, integration of industry and education, educational and teaching reform, improvement of talent training quality, creation of a research atmosphere, breakthroughs in research project achievements, social service impact, and enhancement of research strength. He scientifically judged the opportunities and challenges brought by the new situation of vocational education development to the college, and researched and deployed the goals, methods, and measures of the college's teaching and research work for the next two years. He pointed out that in the next two years, the college should closely rely on all teachers and students, take fostering virtue through education as the foundation, take the establishment of a national "Double High" institution and the creation of a vocational undergraduate college as the overall starting point, firmly grasp the connotation construction, deepen teaching reform, stimulate the vitality of education, and promote characteristic development.

Vice President Lei Junlin read out the "Commendation Decision for the Year 2023 of Hunan Mass Media Vocational and Technical College", commending and awarding on the spot the "Top Ten Teachers of 2023", 10 “Active Researchers of 2023", and 13 "Outstanding Persons in the 2022 Work Assessment". And commendations were given to 7 provincial-level and above teaching teams, 6 provincial-level and above professional teaching resource libraries, 4 national planning textbooks for the "14th Five-Year Plan", 1 national quality online open course, 12 excellent teams in vocational college teachers’ teaching ability competitions, 40 outstanding guidance teachers in skills competitions, and 6 winners of the Outstanding Achievements Award in Educational Science Research in Hunan Province.

Teachers Chen Shuai and Shan Ludongdong respectively delivered speeches as representatives of the "Top Ten Teachers of 2023" and "Active Researchers of 2023". They shared their practices and experiences of continuously solid work and fruitful results in the fields of teaching and research based on their own situations.

Zeng Dan, the person in charge of the national quality online open course, and Wang Caicai, the first prize winner of the Teaching Ability Competition in 2022 National Vocational College Teachers' Skills Competition, shared on-site innovative practices and typical practices in course resource construction and curriculum teaching reform respectively based on their team's works.

Lv Xinyan, the first prize winner of the Teaching Ability Competition in 2019 National Vocational College Teachers' Skills Competition, gave an on-site demonstration of class-performing without students. Ingenious teaching design and solid basic skills won applause, fully reflecting the good spirit and superb teaching skills of our college's teachers.

Secretary of the CPC HNMMC Committee Li Sanfu made a concluding speech. He pointed out that this conference not only sounded the "assembly call" of the college's "14th Five-Year Plan" but also played the "charge call" of "constructing ‘Double High’ and establishing vocational undergraduate programs". He congratulated the advanced teachers and teams who were commended and expressed sincere greetings and respect to all teaching and research workers in the college. He emphasized that the college is at a critical period of development, facing challenges and either advancing or falling behind. All faculty and staff should focus on connotation construction in teaching and research work and put forward four opinions: first, they should attach great importance to teaching and research with a strong sense of urgency; second, they should continuously improve the quality of talent training with a firm sense of mission; third, they should vigorously strengthen team building with a high sense of responsibility; fourth, they should innovate and construct guarantee mechanisms with a deep sense of identity. He hoped that all faculty and staff would comprehensively grasp the overall situation and trends, work hard and strive for excellence, continuously create a new situation in the teaching and research work of the college, and strive to build a distinctive high-level vocational undergraduate college.
