On the afternoons of 24 and 25 September, 2020, Zeng Jianfeng, member of the China Film Directors' Guild, member of the China TV Artists Association, a national first-class director of the Xiaoxiang Film Group, conducted two lectures on special topics of “A talk on the literary script and audio visual of New Dragon Inn” and “A journey of creation from Spring Forever to The Peach Garden” for students of the scriptwriter experimental class of the Writer-director Specialty of HNMMC.

The lecture was held in the teaching building. Lao Guanghui, Director of the School of Journalism and Communication delivered a speech, expressing welcome and gratitude to Director Zeng for his lectures. In the two lectures, Director Zeng took his works New Dragon Inn and Spring Forever and The Peach Garden as examples, and shared comprehensive details about the films’ basic introduction, the narrative of the martial arts movie, and the audio-visual elements. He has gave a detailed introduction to the formation of the scripts, the themes, the costume, making-up, props and scenery, the atmosphere of the scene, the editing, and the publicity and release of the films. Mr. Zeng also explained the key points, difficulties, joys and sorrows in a procedure from the formation of a script to the production of a film.

During the lecture, Director Zeng Jianfeng answered some professional questions from the students. The waves of applause heated the atmosphere at the scene. The students were fully inspired to explore knowledge and creation, and understood the importance of knowledge storage and experience accumulation by enduring hardship and tiredness in the process of script creation. Benefited a lot from the wonderful lectures given by Zeng Jianfeng, the students said that they would strengthen their reflection on film creation and cultivate their sense of innovation.
