Recently, the award list of the“Reciting China” Classic Recitation Competition, part of the seventh Chinese Classics Recitation, Writing and Explanation Competition hosted by the Ministry of Education and the National Language Commission, was officially announced. Our faculty and students from the Broadcasting and Hosting program of the School of Film and Television Arts won national first prizes, achieving a historic breakthrough for the program in this competition.

The award‑winning faculty members and students and their works are as follows: Who Are the Loveliest People, performed by students Wen Xueying, Wu Cuilin, Zhang Jinxiang, and Chen Zhanbo, under the guidance of Teacher Hu Gaopei and Teacher Lin Qian; In That Distant Place, performed by Teacher Lyu Xinyan.

Who Are the Loveliest People, which is adapted from the reportage written by Wei Wei, a writer, is a beloved piece among recitation enthusiasts. The key to the innovative rendition lay in bringing new stage vitality to a classic work for the new era. The two instructors meticulously arranged the piece from multiple dimensions, including stage characterization, personality portrayal, and narrative style, ultimately creating a memorable stage performance and laying a solid foundation for the students to gain experience in national‑level competitions. In That Distant Place is an excerpt from Lu Yao’snovelThe Ordinary World, telling the moving love story between a frontier soldier and a Tibetan girl. Teacher Lyu Xinyan delivered an emotionally engaged performance, which perfectly interpreted the essence of the work and earned high recognition from the judges.

The “Reciting China” Classic Recitation Competition is known for its wide coverage, long competition schedule, and significant social influence. Since its launch in September 2024, our faculty and students have undergone multiple rounds of selection at the college, provincial, and national levels, including preliminary, semi‑final, and final rounds. Throughout the nearly year‑long preparation process, the faculty‑student team demonstrated a meticulous creative attitude, selfless dedication, and close teamwork. They continuously refined their works. Ultimately, they represented the vocational school group and the teacher group of Hunan Province respectively on the national final stage and won first prizes.

This honor is a brilliant achievement of our college’s philosophy of “promoting teaching through competition and cultivating talents through culture”, fully demonstrating the professional competence of our faculty and students as well as the comprehensive strength of our teaching team.
