On December 4, the opening ceremony of the “Chinese + Digital Media Art and Design” International Joint Training Program was held at our college. Mr. Xie Jingwei, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the college, Mr. Shen Jianfei, Vice President of the college, and Ms. Ma Yuehan, Chinese Director of the Chinese Language Center at Villa College in the Maldives, attended the ceremony. Also present were the heads of relevant secondary colleges and functional departments, faculty and student representatives, as well as 22 faculty members and students from the Maldives.

Mr. Xie delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the college. He reviewed the cooperation history between our college and Villa College in the Maldives. He noted that since the two institutions jointly established the first Chinese Language Center in the Maldives in 2022, they have continuously deepened the cooperation model of “Chinese + vocational skills.” This training program represents an important step in extending their collaboration from language teaching to the field of digital media. He expressed the hope that the Maldivian participants, with curiosity, openness, and creativity, would deeply experience the charm of Hunan culture and digital media art, and become ambassadors for cultural exchange and friendship between China and the Maldives.

Mr. Shen gave a detailed introduction to the international training program. He illustrated that focusing on the integration and innovation of digital media art and design with Hunan culture, the program would draw on the strengths of Digital Media Art and Design program cluster. Following the path of “learning Chinese, understanding culture, and promoting digital media”, the program aims to create a comprehensive platform that integrates Chinese language learning, cultural experience, and digital media art practice.

At the ceremony, the college leaders presented cultural and creative souvenirs designed by faculty and students of the Digital Media Art and Design program to the Maldivian teacher representatives. These works, which incorporate Hunan embroidery patterns and digital art elements, vividly showcase the teaching outcomes of “technology + cultural creativity”, allowing the Maldivian participants to intuitively appreciate the potential of digital technology in empowering cultural innovation. Director Ma Yuehan noted that digital media art has become a common medium for contemporary international youth exchange. She expressed her hope that the participants would seize the learning opportunity and broaden their horizons and plan for their futures through immersive language practice and skills experience.

After the ceremony, the participants visited the All‑Media Training Centerto experience VR/AR technology, virtual studios, and other equipment firsthand, and to gain a practical understanding of the college’s converged media teaching environment.

This training program is a significant initiative for the college to serve the Belt and Road Initiative’s science and education cooperation and to deepen the “Chinese + vocational skills” training model, marking a new step forward in international education and cross‑cultural talent cultivation.
