A Work Seminar on Hunan Short Drama Research Center held at Our College

On the afternoon of December 22, a work seminar on the Hunan Short Drama Research Center was successfully held in Room 304 of the library. The seminar was presided over by Vice President Lei Junlin, while Hu Zhiwu, President of the Hunan Online Audio-Visual Association, was invited to deliver a keynote speech. Representatives from the Scientific Research Department, the School of Journalism and Communication, the School of Management, along with professional faculty members, participated in the discussion.


It focused on the theme of “Internet Thinking in Hunan Short Drama Creation” to facilitated in-depth exchanges. In his speech, Mr. Hu Zhiwu pointed out that short dramas are characterized by “compact plots and strong rhythms”, and they have now developed into over a hundred sub‑categories. However, the industry still faces challenges such as insufficient supply of high-quality content and difficulty in meeting the continuously rising aesthetic expectations of audiences.


Regarding the international development of short dramas, he emphasizedwe should attach great importance to international copyright protection, strengthen the study of copyright laws and regulations in major target markets such as the United States, andestablish a sound copyright protection mechanism, thereby laying a legal foundation for the “going global” of short drama works.


During the interactive session, Mr. Hu Zhiwu provided detailed answers to questions raised by faculty members and encouraged everyone to actively participate in the creation practice of short dramas from planning to implementation, aiming to produce high‑quality works that combine social value and market value.
