Recently, the 2025 Hunan Provincial Vocational College Moral Education Practice Activity — the “My Professional Idol” Speech Final, hosted by the Hunan Provincial Department of Education, was successfully concluded at Xiangtan Industry and Trade Vocational Secondary School. Duan Yafei, a student from Class 2401 of the Broadcasting and Hosting Program of the School of Film and Television Arts, delivered an outstanding performance and stood out among many excellent contestants from across the province, winning the first prize in the higher vocational group.
The “My Professional Idol” speechcompetition was an important part of the 2025 provincial moral education practice activities for vocational colleges. It aimed to guide vocational college students to learn from the exemplary deeds of role models of the times, master craftsmen, and outstanding individuals around them, to promote their lofty spirits, and to further commit to their professional ideals and cultivate professional ethics. In the final, Duan Yafei, with her calm and confident stage presence, sincere and touching emotions, and expressive delivery, passionately told the inspiring story of her professional idol — Tan Lihe, the “Crutch Reporter.” She vividly depicted Tan Lihe’s perseverance despite physical disability, his dedication to frontline journalism, and how, leaning on a crutch, he traveled across Hunan to give a voice to vulnerable groups, demonstrating his professional commitment and concern for the people. In her speech, she integrated her understanding of the idol’s spirit with the mission of students in the new era, making a youthful pledge to “measure the times with our footsteps, record the world with our pens, speak for the people, and document the era.” Her genuine emotion, fluent expression, and profound content deeply moved the judges and audience, ultimately earning her the first prize.

This achievement not only affirms Duan Yafei’s overall qualities and professional competence but also serves as an important demonstration of the college’s success in cultivating broadcasting and hosting talents. Moreover, it vividly reflects the college’s continuous efforts to advance moral education practice and deepen the effectiveness of the “Three-wide Education” approach.
