Recently, the 2025 Hunan Provincial Classic Recitation Competition, hosted by the Hunan Provincial Department of Education, came to a successful conclusion. Our college’s entry, The Oath of the Land, won second place in the final round, with its profound textual interpretation, innovative staging, and sincere artistic expression.

This award‑winning work, The Oath of the Land, achieved a significant breakthrough in form, creatively adopting an integrated model of “live piano accompaniment + choral humming + recitation”. With recitation as the main thread, the work used the emotional evocation of piano melodies and the atmosphericrendering of choral humming to construct a richly layered stage that alternated between movement and stillness, greatly enhancing the immersive quality and artistic tension of the piece.

This achievement is a vivid manifestation of the college’s commitment to deepening professional collaboration and implementing the “broad language” education philosophy. The work was guided by faculty from the Broadcasting and Hosting program for textual interpretation and emotional expression, while faculty and students from the Music Performance program fully contributed to the presentation: Teacher Deng Liping guided the choral and humming sections and led students on stage to coordinate with the recitation’s emotional progression; Teacher Tan Yuan served as the live piano accompanist; Teacher Cao Xiaotian, Teacher Xiang Yingchun, and others were responsible for choir rehearsal and stage coordination; and Teacher Huang Xuhuai coordinated resources to ensure the smooth progress of this interdisciplinary collaboration.

The“recitation + music” interdisciplinary model not only enriched the stage presentation techniques but also embodied the college’s teaching philosophy of “professional integration and practical education”. Participating student Zhang Mengru said,“Rehearsing and performing together with students from the Music Performance program gave us a deeper appreciation of the power of integrating language and music. Our teachers provided us with great inspiration in emotional guidance and stage coordination. This was an extremely valuable learning and growth experience.”

The honor received by The Oath of the Land not only demonstrates the solid linguistic foundation and artistic creative ability of students from Broadcasting and Hosting program but also reflects the college’s excellent operation of resource sharing and mutual professional reinforcement. Our college will continue to leverage the platform advantages of the National Language Promotion Base, further promote interdisciplinary teaching reform and innovative practice, and strive to cultivate more high‑quality, versatile media and arts talents.
