On February 6th, the 2026 “Chuyi Cup” Hunan Provincial Vocational College Skills Competition in the category of “Environmental Art Design” came to a successful conclusion. The participating team from the college’s Interior Art and Design program, with solid professional foundation, forward‑looking design concepts, and outstanding teamwork, stood out among 77 provincial teams, winning two first prizes and securing qualification for the national competition. This achievement injects new vitality into the construction of the college’s program clusters under the “Double High-level Plan”.

This competition closely aligned with industry and market demands, aiming to comprehensively test the contestants’ professional competencies. The competition lasted eight hours and consisted of three modules: hand‑drawn rendering, CAD drafting, and 3D effect drawing, covering the entire process from design conception to final output. It emphasized both professional fundamentals and innovative thinking as well as attention to detail.

During the competition, our students performed calmly and steadily: in the hand‑drawn section, their lines were smooth and colors harmonious, accurately conveying design concepts; their CAD drawings were standardized, efficient, and precise; their 3D effect drawings demonstrated distinctive creativity and solid detail, fully showcasing their excellent professional skills and good vocational ethics, which received high recognition from the judges.

Winning two first prizes and advancing to the national competition is an important reflection of the college’s ongoing teaching reform centered on “promoting teaching and learning through competition”. As a core program in the college’s “Double High-level Plan” construction, the Interior Art and Design program has long promoted industry‑education integration, establishing practice teaching bases with several well‑known design enterprises, introducing real projects into the classroom, and intensively training core skills such as hand‑drawn rendering, CAD, and 3D effect drawing, with the aim of enhancing students’ ability to solve complex practical problems. The award‑winning works are a vividdemonstration of the outcomes of this project‑based teaching approach.

Looking ahead, the college will take this competition as an opportunity to continuously optimize the talent cultivation model integrating “post, course, competition, and certificate”, strengthen faculty development and investment in training facilities, and carry out targeted national competition preparation training, helping the teams achieve even greater success at the national level. At the same time, the college will fully promote the achievements and experience gained from this competition, driving overall teaching improvement in related programs. It will make greater contributions to cultivating more high‑quality, interdisciplinary interior art and design talents, thereby serving the development of regional cultural industries and urban renewal.
