From February 4th to 6th, the 2026 Hunan Provincial Vocational College Skills Competition in the category of “Short Video Creation and Operation” was held at the college. Over the three‑day competition, 127 teams consisting of 508 contestants from 72 higher vocational colleges across the province gathered to compete intensely in short video planning, shooting, editing, and operation.
The team of Tan Siting, Li Xujian, Zhao Ruiqi, and Duan Jiahang, guided by Teacher Chen Haowen and Teacher Shan Ludongdong, together with the team of Li Wenting, Zhong Hao, Peng Yashan, and Zhou Lexuan, guided by Teacher Yin Niyating and Teacher Gong Yan, stood out in the fierce competition with their solid professional foundation, innovative content design, and teamworkspirit.The two teams both won first prizes.
This competition adopted a team collaboration model, which required contestants to complete the entire process from short video planning and creation to operation plan design within five hours, aiming to comprehensively test their innovative thinking and practical skills. The outstanding performance of the two teams fully demonstrates the remarkable achievements of the college’s talent cultivation in journalism and communication programs. This success serves as a vivid example of the college’s efforts to deepen the education model of “promoting teaching and learning through competition”, advance teaching reform, strengthen practical skills training, and support the construction of program clusters under the “Double High-level Plan”.
During the competition, the School of Journalism and Communication was fully responsible for organization and support services. It specially selected 15 students to form a volunteer service team. After systematic training, the volunteers were arranged at registration areas, competition venues, and material distribution points, to guide participating teachers and students, and assist with equipment debugging and on‑site coordination. Their professional and meticulous service became a beautiful highlight of the event.
