On March 31st, the “Bridging Hearts and Words” Cultural Tourism Volunteer Service Team from the School of International Communication of the college visited Hunan Library to carry out a themed volunteer activity entitled “In the Name of Volunteerism, Answer the Call of the Library”, injecting youthful warmth into the bookish venue as part of efforts to vigorously promote the spirit of volunteerism, deepen the effectiveness of practical education, and inherit and practice the Lei Feng spirit through youth action.

At the event, 23 volunteers, under the unified coordination of their supervising teachers and library staff, quickly divided their tasks and devoted themselves to efficient service. Each volunteer performed their duties with care, diligence, and collaboration—organizing books and documents, cleaning reading areas, and jointly creating a clean, elegant, and comfortable reading environment. Through their busy work, the volunteers honed their skills and grew as individuals; through their dedication, they remained true to their original aspirations and gained a sense of purpose. They expressed that this volunteer activity was not only a valuable practical experience but also a profound spiritualpurification. In the process of safeguarding the scholarly atmosphere and serving readers, they truly experienced the core spirit of volunteerism—“dedication, friendliness, mutual assistance, and progress”—and further strengthened their sense of responsibility and mission as young students in the new era.

It is reported that the School of International Communication took the “Lei Feng Activity Month” as an opportunity to carefully organize a series of distinctive volunteer activities. In addition to the library volunteer service, the School also jointly carried out a “Greening and Protecting the Spring, Building Our Homes with Youth” themed activity with Simaochong Community, Sifangping Streeton Arbor Day, as well as a low-carbon environmental protection volunteer activity themed “Learning from Lei Feng to Stay True to Our Original Aspirations, Protecting Green Waters to Paint a Green Landscape” around Songya Lake. These practical activities are important measures for the School to deepen practical education and implement the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education. They not only enrich the contemporary connotation of “Learning from Lei Feng” volunteer services but also integrate the educational philosophy of “Bridging Hearts and Words” into daily practice. While serving society and spreading warmth, young students interpret the responsibility of youth in the new era with their youthful energy, allowing the Lei Feng spirit and volunteer spirit to be passed down from generation to generation and flourish endlessly through practice.
