"Alumni Returning to Hunan" Bridges the Gap, Broadcasting the Shine of Hunan’s Media in Africa – HNMMC Faculty and Students Star in China-Namibia Co-produced Short Drama, Bringing "Beautiful Hunan" to the World

Recently, the third season of the China-Namibia co-produced short drama O.W in China, a key cultural project to commemorate the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Namibia, successfully wrapped up filming at the "City of Time · 1944" film base in Mount Heng, Hunan. The drama was initiated through the connections of HNMMC alumni, with a team from the Film and Television Performance program led by Professor Jiang Liguo deeply involved. It is a vivid practice of China-Namibia cultural exchange and a vibrant testament to the college’s efforts in deepening its "Alumni Return to Hunan" program, using its media expertise to empower the development of Hunan.

During filming, Professor Jiang Liguo served as the acting coach, meticulously refining details and leading the faculty and student team in aligning classroom training with international production standards. Fu Yi, a student from the Class of 2023 majoring in Broadcasting and Hosting, starred as the female lead. With solid professional skills and expressive on-screen presence, she delivered a compelling portrayal of the character. The team’s rigorous creative approach and innovative expression earned high praise from international peers. Jackson Nghinamhito, a renowned Namibian filmmaker, commented: “HNMMC team’s professionalism and cross-cultural collaboration capabilities are truly impressive, elevating the emotional impact of the story to a new level.”

As the "Cradle of Hunan’s Broadcasting and Television Talent", HNMMC has many alumni who are deeply engaged in the media and cultural industries, playing a pivotal role in international film and television collaborations. Their efforts have successfully brought multiple co-production projects to Hunan. Since the launch of the "Alumni Return to Hunan" program, the college has actively engaged alumni resources, encouraging faculty and students to participate deeply in international project creation, allowing the vibrant image of "Beautiful Hunan" to resonate globally.

It is reported that O.W in China Season 3 will be featured at the 2026 China-Africa Cultural Exchange Year events and broadcast on mainstream media in Namibia. In the future, HNMMC will continue to deepen its "Alumni Return to Hunan" initiative, expand its international cooperation efforts, and encourage more faculty and students to tell Chinese stories and spread Hunan's voice through visual media, continuously injecting media power into the enhancement of Hunan's cultural soft power and international influence.
