On December 4, the opening ceremony of the “Chinese Language + Digital Media Art Design” International Joint Training Program was held at HNMMC. Xie Jingwei, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of the college, Shen Jianfei, Vice President, and Ma Yuehan, Chinese Director of the Chinese Language Center at Villa College, Maldives, attended the ceremony. Heads of relevant secondary schools and functional departments, faculty and student representatives, as well as 22 teachers and students from the Maldives, were also present.

On behalf of the college, Xie Jingwei delivered a welcome address, reviewing the history of cooperation between HNMMC and Maldives Villa College. He noted that since the joint establishment of the first Chinese Language Center in the Maldives in 2022, the two institutions have continued to deepen the “Chinese language + vocational skills” cooperation model. This training program represents an important step in extending collaboration from language education to the field of digital media disciplines. He expressed his hope that Maldivian participants would engage with Hunan culture and digital media art with curiosity, openness, and creativity, and become ambassadors of China–Maldives cultural exchange and friendship.

Shen Jianfei provided a detailed introduction to the international training program. He explained that the program focuses on the innovative integration of digital media art design and Hunan culture. Leveraging HNMMC’s digital media art design program cluster, it follows a pathway of “learning Chinese, understanding culture, and advancing digital media”, aiming to build a comprehensive platform that integrates Chinese language learning, cultural experience, and hands-on practice in digital media art.

During the ceremony, college leaders presented cultural and creative souvenirs to representatives of the Maldivian faculty. Designed by teachers and students from the digital media art design program cluster, these works combine traditional Hunan embroidery motifs with digital art elements, vividly showcasing teaching achievements in “technology + cultural creativity” and allowing Maldivian participants to directly experience the potential of digital technologies in empowering cultural creativity. Director Ma Yuehan noted that digital media art has become a common medium for contemporary international youth exchange, and expressed her expectation that participants would seize this learning opportunity to broaden their horizons and plan for the future through immersive language practice and skills-based experiences.

After the ceremony, participants visited the all-media training center, where they experienced VR/AR technologies, virtual studios, and other facilities, gaining firsthand insight into the college’s integrated media teaching environment.

This training program is an important initiative by HNMMC to support the Belt and Road science and education cooperation and to further advance the “Chinese language + vocational skills” training model. It marks a new step forward in the college’s internationalization efforts and in the cultivation of cross-cultural, application-oriented talent.
