The center collaborates with over 30 leading enterprises, including Mango TV, Xiaoxiang Film Group, and TVZONE, as well as more than ten universities such as Central South University, Hunan Normal University, and Changsha University. By deepening the integration of “industry, academia, research, and application”, the center aims to promote the high-quality development of Hunan’s micro-drama industry.

At the plaque-awarding ceremony, He Zhanbing emphasized that the establishment of the Hunan Micro-Drama Research Center is a major milestone in the development of Hunan’s cultural industry and a vivid practice of implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important remarks on building a culturally strong nation. It holds significant importance for promoting the high-quality development of the online audiovisual industry and for establishing Hunan as a hub for cultural creativity.

He Zhanbing highlighted that HNMMC has long been known as the “cradle of Hunan broadcasting talents” and possesses unique advantages in location, expertise, talent, and resource integration in the field of micro-drama. The college’s proximity to the Hunan Broadcasting Center has created a “front stage-backyard” ecosystem for industry-education integration. Its professional system covers the entire production process of micro-dramas, providing comprehensive support for the industry. The large number of versatile media talents cultivated over the years has strengthened the industry’s human resource base, and the industrial community built with leading enterprises and universities helps to form a complete micro-drama ecosystem. As the host institution, HNMMC will leverage these advantages to establish a provincial-level demonstration platform integrating “theoretical research, content creation, technology development, industry services, talent cultivation, and international communication”.

Regarding the future development of the research center, He Zhanbing made a solemn commitment on behalf of the center. First, ensuring political guidance: integrate mainstream values into micro-drama creation, making the medium a platform for spreading positive energy.Second, pursuing innovation: Collaborate with authoritative institutions to study industry standards, jointly build a “Next-Generation Audiovisual Technology Laboratory” with Mango TV and Douyin, and lead the industry through initiatives such as the “Micro-Drama Technology Workshop” and the “Hunan Micro-Drama Maker Space”. Third, showcasing cultural confidence: Implement the “Xiang-Style Micro-Series” project, explore the connotations of Hunan culture, and develop cultural IPs through works such as “KeepersIntangible Cultural Heritage”. Fourth, innovating talent cultivation: Establish a “teaching studio + industry project” model, launch a “Micro-Drama Creation Cohort”, and apply for a “Micro-Drama Operations” program to supply professional talent for the industry.

The establishment of the Hunan Micro-Drama Research Center will provide intellectual support and innovation vitality for Hunan’s micro-drama ecosystem, help advance the industry to new heights, and play a key role in telling Chinese stories and promoting Hunan culture.
