HNMMC Achieved Outstanding Results at the 9th Milan Design Week – China Collegiate Design Competition & Exhibition

Recently, the award ceremony of the 9th Milan Design Week – China Collegiate Design Competition & Exhibition concluded successfully in Chengdu. The faculty-student team from the School of Journalism and Communication at HNMMC stood out with their work “Exploring Rishengchang”, winning the First Prize at the national competition as well as the Outstanding Instructor Award. The achievement fully demonstrates the school’s innovative results in design education and the team’s excellent professional skills.

The Milan Design Week – China Collegiate Design Competition & Exhibition is jointly organized by the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) and the China Association of Higher Education(CAHE). As an authoritative event included in the “National Ranking List of Discipline Competitions in Regular Institutions of Higher Learning”, it provides a professional platform for international exchange and showcasing talent for art and design students nationwide. This year’s competition was unprecedented in scale, attracting participation from 1,759 colleges and universities, collecting over 270,000 entries, and involving 380,000 students and faculty, making the competition extremely fierce.

The award-winning video work “Exploring Rishengchang” was guided by teachers Dong Juanjuan and Huang Yinju from the School of Journalism and Communication, and jointly created by students Xiao Kunyi, Dong Wa, Liu Luye, Liu Xiang, and Jie Yujun. The work combines the architectural and financial elements of Rishengchang with cultural and tourism values spanning past and present, using innovative expressive techniques to convey profound reflections on traditional culture and evoke emotional resonance. It fully showcases the creators’ sharp design insight and solid professional skills.

In recent years, HNMMC has attached great importance to the role of discipline competitions in talent cultivation. The college has achieved consecutive successes in Milan Design Week, the National Advertising Art Design Competitionfor College Students, the National Vocational College Skills Competition, and other contests. These achievements have not only enhanced the college’s reputation and influence in the media field but also injected strong momentum into its program development and teaching reform.

During the award ceremony, participating faculty and students also attended the concurrent “AI Empowering Art and Design Education” academic forum on teaching innovation. They engaged in in-depth discussions with well-known scholars and industry experts nationwide on cutting-edge topics such as design discipline restructuring driven by AI, interdisciplinary integration, and transformation of teaching paradigms, providing new ideas for the innovative development of art and design education at HNMMC in the future.
