The Fourth Council Meeting of the Chinese Language Center at Villa College, Maldives Successfully Convened, Outlining a New Blueprint for “Chinese+” Educational Cooperation

Recently, the Fourth Council Meeting of the Chinese Language Center at Villa College, Maldiveswas held at the college.

Prior to the meeting, the Chinese council members paid a collective courtesy visit to H.E. Mr. Kong Xianhua, Ambassador of China to the Maldives. Ambassador Kong provided a comprehensive overview of the Maldives’ national conditions and its current priority initiatives in infrastructure development and digital transformation, highlighting the new opportunities these bring for China-Maldives educational cooperation. He fully commended the achievements of the Chinese Language Center in promoting cultural and educational exchanges between the two countries, and expressed the expectation that the center will continue to expand the reach of Chinese language education, advance the distinctive “Chinese+Vocational” development pathway, and deepen the integration of Chinese language education with vocational skills training to cultivate more localized professional talent in the Maldives.

Following this, the Fourth Council Meeting of the Chinese Language Center at Villa Collegeofficially convened. The meeting was attended by Najeeb, Executive Vice President of Villa College; Munnim, Vice President of Villa College; Fan Wen, Vice President of Chang’an University; Xie Jingwei, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Hunan Mass Media Vocational and Technical College (HNMMC); Zhang Wei, Dean of the School of International Education of Chang’an University; Shifaza, Director of the International Relations Department of Villa College; Ma Yuehan, Chinese Director of the Chinese Language Center; and Xiao Yi, Deputy Director of the International Exchange Office of HNMMC.

The meeting conducted a comprehensive review of the Chinese Language Center’s work since its establishment and heard the 2025 annual work summary report. The council focused on planning and deploying key initiatives for 2026, covering core topics such as curriculum and teaching arrangements, scholarships and funding programs, teaching staff construction, expansion of international exchanges and cooperation, and financial and operational management. All parties reached a high degree of consensus on the center’s development roadmap.

During their addresses, leaders from the three institutions expressed strong support and high expectations for the center’s growth. Executive Vice President Najeeb looked forward to deeper and broader collaboration with Chinese institutions in talent cultivation, joint curriculum development, and vocational education. Vice President Fan Wen expressed gratitude to all parties for their efforts in the center’s development and emphasized leveraging the center as a bridge to further expand and deepen cooperation. Xie Jingwei pledged to continue promoting trilateral cooperation and proposed ideas for jointly cultivating talent in the digital media field and co-developing internationally recognized professional standards and curriculum systems.
