The student team, guided by three faculty members from the School of International Communication—Rao Dan, Li Wei, and Peng Haiyan—won the Grand Prize in the student category with their video Fireflies Towards the Light. The short film tells the story of HNMMC's Youth Lecturer Team students, who engage in a cross-temporal dialogue with revolutionary predecessors while exploring the faith journey of China's first female communist, Miao Boying, and carry forward her ideals and beliefs through their actions. Meanwhile, I Am Tashi, created by Pan Danfen from the School of Film and Television Arts, won the grand prize in the faculty category. The film uses stage performances and behind-the-scenes documentary of the colleges original drama The Great Doctors of Dong Village and depicts the touching story of Tashi Zhima, a "Good Person of China,"who, alongside her husband Yang Wenqin, dedicated her life to saving lives in rural areas. The film is told from the first-person monologue perspective of Pan Danfen, who played Tashi.

The competition, launched in 2024, aimed to innovate online ideological and political education in higher education through short videos under the theme "Becoming New Era Youth". More than 100 colleges and universities across Hunan Province participated, submitting over 2,200 works. A total of 69 Grand Prizes were awarded.

This achievement highlights HNMMC’s comprehensive strength in "media + ideological education" and its innovative approach in integrating ideological education with media creation. Going forward, the college will continue to leverage its expertise and innovation to contribute to cultivating a new generation of media professionals capable of undertaking the mission of national rejuvenation.
