On April 22, coinciding with the 16th United Nations Chinese Language Day and the 6th International Chinese Language Day, a large-scale cultural exhibition themed "Beauty in Multilingual Harmony: Chinese—A Gift Across Time and Space" was held at the Creative Plaza of HNMMC. Trainees from the Comoros Radio and Television Program Production Workshop joined faculty and students of HNMMC in a dialogue of civilizations that transcended language and time. College leaders Li Sanfu, He Zhanbing, Xie Jingwei, Xu Jingxue, Zhu Dan, and Yang Jinhui attended the event.
During the event, all international students performed This Moment in Bloom, a musical piece blending traditional folk singing with modern rap, expressing their deep appreciation for the Chinese language and culture. Students from the School of International Communication, both Chinese and international, collaborated on a variety of performances rooted in traditional Chinese culture, including a tea ceremony, Chinese floral art demonstration, a rendition of the song Little Happiness, and a dance performance of The Elephant King's March. The event also featured ten immersive traditional Chinese cultural experience stations: "The Beauty of Civilization in Calligraphy", "Elegant Fans in Ink and Paint", "Natural Dyeing with Plants", "Scissors Crafting the Landscape", "The Fragrance of Tea", "Sachets of Blooming Grace", "Whispers of Bamboo Weaving", "Flavors of Wild Cooking", "Ancient and Modern Children's Games", and "Exploring Meridian Mysteries". These interactive stations transformed cultural symbols such as calligraphy, tea art, and traditional Chinese medicine into touchable and engaging experiences, allowing participants to immerse themselves in the charm of the Chinese language and culture through a refined and playful setting.
International students from Madagascar acted as ambassadors of cultural exchange, guiding the Comoros trainees through the exhibition. Said Mohamed Ali, a trainee from Comoros, said excitedly, "Even though I don’t speak Chinese, this experience allowed me to truly feel the beauty of Chinese culture. This has been the most unforgettable day since I arrived in China."
The significance of International Chinese Language Day lies not only in language education but also in fostering a global network for cross-cultural exchange. As a media-focused institution, HNMMC actively embraces the mission of promoting the Chinese language and culture. By leveraging media wisdom, the college brings new vitality to Chinese in the digital era and enriches the global landscape of civilization through youth dialogue. This series of events is a vivid reflection of HNMMC’s educational philosophy—"Language as Medium, Media as Path"—and an important exploration in serving the Belt and Road Initiative and cultivating cross-disciplinary technical talents with strong international communication capabilities.
The event was co-hosted by the Student Affairs Office, Youth League Committee, and Office of International
Exchange, and organized by the School of International Communication. Heads of relevant functional departments, Party secretaries and deputy secretaries of secondary schools, and faculty and student representatives attended the event.
