Recently, the national final of the Fourth "51Learning Cup" National College Comprehensive Business Language Competence Contest (Micro-video Works), hosted by the China Association of International Trade, were held at the School of Foreign Languages, Hunan University. After intense competition, five students from our School of International Communication secured the first prize nationwide with the highest overall score in the associate degree category. They also won two special awards: "Best Critical Thinking Ability" and "Best Cross-Border Live Stream Marketer". Additionally, instructors Deng Xin and Tan Xiao were honored with the "Outstanding Instructor" award.
This contest adopted an innovative industry-academia-research integration model for talent cultivation, characterized by "enterprises setting questions, joint responses from schools and enterprises, and industry-based evaluation". In the national final, a panel of academic and industry experts comprehensively assessed the competing teams based on real-world enterprise needs for brand building and international product expansion. The evaluation focused on participants' comprehensive abilities in target market research and positioning, business English application, innovative thinking, on-the-spot adaptability and interaction, and product sales strategies. To showcase the talents of our media students, our college formed a competition team in April after a rigorous selection process. The team underwent months of intensive business English training, on-site corporate research, and repeated refinements in short video production. Their exceptional performance earned them the Special Prize at the provincial level, securing their spot in the national final. Ultimately, they claimed the top position in the national competition with the highest overall score.
Our college actively implements the Ministry of Education and the National Language Commission's policies on language and cultural education, continuously innovating teaching methods in business English to enhance students' practical skills and linguistic-cultural literacy. Moreover, we actively collaborate with enterprises to foster students' comprehensive development in "language + skills", enabling them to apply their expertise in serving society and providing platforms for high-quality entrepreneurship and employment opportunities.
