From November 15th to 17th, 2024, the World Chinese Language Conference was held at the China National Convention Center in Beijing. Xie Jingwei, Deputy Secretary of the CPC HNMMC Committee, the Chinese Director of the Chinese Language Center at Villa College, Maldives, the Villa College delegation, and relevant staff from the International Exchange Office of our college participated in a series of meetings and activities.
With the theme "Interconnection, Integration, Inheritance, Innovation," the conference was hosted by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China and co-organized by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation, the China International Chinese Language Education Foundation, and the International Society for Chinese Language Teaching. Over 2,000 participants from more than 160 countries and regions, including government officials, school principals, experts and scholars, teachers and students, and diplomats, attended this grand event. The conference coincided with the 20th anniversary of the Confucius Institute. Discussions were held on various topics, including the future development of Confucius Institutes, the construction and promotion of standards in international Chinese language education, localization of teaching materials and methods, the digital and intelligent transformation of language education, the international application and services of Chinese, the collaborative development of Chinese language education and vocational education, and mutual learning through language education and civilization exchange.
During the conference, the "2024 Language Education and Cooperation Exhibition" was held simultaneously. HNMMC’s co-developed “Panda World” Chinese teaching resource package and other international Chinese education products, such as "Chinese Character Puzzle", were exhibited at the event and received unanimous praise from both Chinese and foreign delegates. As the first higher vocational college in the country to host an overseas Chinese language center, HNMMC remains committed to the international dissemination of Chinese language and culture, and will continue to contribute to building an open and inclusive global Chinese language education framework.
