On the morning of December 9, the college held the opening ceremony of the 21st Sports Meeting at the athletic field. All the leaders of the college attended the ceremony, and the directors of the secondary schools, the secretaries of the Party branches, and the main persons in charge of the functional offices were seated on the rostrum. The opening ceremony was presided over by vice president Xu Jingxue.
The sports meeting kicked off in the exciting march of athletes. The national flag guard entered with a measured march, escorting the Five-Starred Red Flag. Accompanied by the solemn national anthem, the flag fluttered in the wind and rose slowly. All members stood up and sang the national anthem. More than 700 students from 6 secondary schools made up 14 phalanx teams, entering the venue in turn and presenting well-designed performance to the audience. They were all dressed up and expressive, presenting distinctive performances with neat and uniform movements.
Surrounded by the lingering sound of the national anthem, Yuan Weikun, secretary of the Party committee of the college, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. Yuan pointed out that carrying out campus sports and enhancing the physical fitness of teachers, students and staff were an important part of the college's implementation of strengthening moral education and cultivating people. The college has always attached great importance to physical education, and teachers and students have always had a fine tradition of being passionate for sports. The college will strengthen the reform of physical education, focus on improving the quality of physical education, give full play to the comprehensive role of physical education in cultivating and practicing socialist core values, and promoting quality education. More efforts will be made to guide students to continuously improve their physical attainments by getting off the Internet, stepping out of the dormitory, and walking to the playground, and to consciously develop a good living habit of physical exercise. Meanwhile, the college will accelerate the construction of various sports facilities, extensively carry out popular sports activities, vigorously create campus sports culture, and strive to create better conditions and environments for teachers and students to participate in exercise. He hoped that in an "open, fair, and just" competitive environment, all athletes will work hard, dare to challenge, and show their style, high level, good results, and sincere friendship, fully demonstrating the active, healthy, united, and progressive outlook of HNMMC students.
Teacher Yue Rongtao from the Physical Education Department, served as the chief referee's, announced the discipline of the competition to all the athletes. Student Luo Yao from the School of Film and Television took the oath on behalf of all the athletes. Teacher Peng Tao from the Physical Education Department represented all the referees and took the oath.
Party secretary Yuan Weikun declared the opening of the 21st Sports Meeting and the 17th Sports Meeting for Faculty of the College, bringing the ceremony to a climax.
A total of 617 athletes participated in the Sports Meeting, and were divided into two groups. Each group participated in 22 competitions, in which 44 champions were decided. The group event adopted a points system, and the first, second and third prizes were selected according to the order of points. 3 winners of Sports Ethics and Style Awards would be selected from 6 secondary schools based on the opening ceremony performance, student audience organization and the spirit and style of the schools.
To ensure the safe and orderly progress of the sports meeting, the college established a special work team and multi-departmental linkage mechanism in accordance with the normalization of epidemic prevention and control and the work requirements of "one matter, one team, one case". Great efforts should be made in preparation for the epidemic prevention and control and emergency response work, limiting the number and distance of people, entering the field at staggering peak, reducing the number of volunteers, and avoiding the gathering of people. Prevention and control measures must be implemented by all departments and the responsible persons must be clear.
