The enrollment plan was 1,700 people in total, and 5,383 people signed up. On the sunny afternoon of March 21, as the last candidate walked out of the interview examination room, the 2021 higher vocational colleges independent recruitment in HNMMC was successfully concluded. Although the enrolment plan significantly reduced by 20% compared with last year, the number of applicants and candidates for the exam this year still hit a record high.

According to statistics, from March 20 to March 21, candidates from all over the province participated in written tests and interviews. As last year, this independent recruitment is open to fresh ordinary high school graduates and secondary vocational graduates, as well as candidates including veterans, enterprise employees, laid-off and unemployed people, new-type farmers and migrant workers. The enrollment cover 34 specialties, including News Edit and Production, Advertising Design and Production, Digital Media Application Technology, Broadcasting and Hosting, Communication and Planning, and Leisure Services and Management. It is planned to enroll 1,700 people, including 200 social workers. The exam site was crowded with people, and the registration ratios of most specialties exceeded 1:4. Among them, the specialties with the highest registration rate were Digital Media Technology (1:8.4), Character Design (1:7.5), Drama and Film Performance (1:7), Broadcasting and Hosting (1:6).

The college attaches great importance to this independent recruitment examination, and conducted strict measures at various levels in terms of policy implementation, condition guarantee, accurate information services, online application guidance, and on-site independent recruitment services. Due to the normalization of epidemic prevention and control, the independent recruitment for students is undoubtedly a "big test" for the college. In order to ensure the smooth progress of the enrollment work, the college vigorously improved the surrounding environment of the campus and strengthens the construction of campus culture. The college also established an independent recruitment work leadership group to formulate a thorough and detailed work plan, that is, to elaborately arrange and efficiently implement all of the tasks from examination registration, qualification review, examination organization, epidemic prevention and control, medical aid, logistical support, epidemic prevention and emergency treatment, so as to create a safe and healthy, fair and impartial, comfortable and pleasant exam environment for candidates.

During the independent recruitment examination, HNMMC leadership such as Party Secretary Yuan Weikun, President Ma Yujun and others conducted field inspections and guidance in the frontline of the examination organization, and required a balance between recruitment and normalized epidemic prevention. The Office of the Leading Group for Epidemic Prevention and Control of the college formulated the epidemic prevention and control work plan and emergency response plan during the examination. All relevant departments arranged the examination room in advance, and completed the work of disinfection and ventilation on the campus. The examination room was equipped with medical alcohol, disinfectant, hand sanitizer and other items. All candidates and test management staff must wear masks. Candidates must provide the green code of the resident health card and take a temperature measurement before entering the campus. Those with abnormal body temperature will be sent to the alternate isolation test room by the epidemic prevention personnel through the special epidemic prevention vehicle to take the exam. Therefore, measuring body temperature and scanning the green code has become another difference in this year's independent recruitment work.

This independent recruitment is for the three categories of candidates to conduct cultural knowledge exam and comprehensive quality test. The college will select candidates from high to low scores according to the total scores of candidates, combined with the order of professional preferences. The candidates with the same total scores will be ranked from high to low in the vocational skills test. If the vocational skills test scores are still the same, they will be sequentially sorted according to the 2020 Ordinary High School Qualification Test or the scores of Chinese, Mathematics, and English subjects in Cultural Quality Test from high to low. The admission rate for all types of candidates is basically the same.

The recruitment site was crowded with candidates. The exam also attracted 149 candidates who won awards in the National or Hunan Vocational Skills Competitions to participate. Among these 26 candidates, some won the first prize in the Hunan Vocational College Skills Competition and some won the first, second, and third prizes of the National Vocational College Skills Competition. These candidates can apply for exam exemption. Once they pass the review of the schools, they can be directly admitted to the related specialties without joining the examination.

The candidates can enjoy the preferential policy in the same condition if they have received awards and honors, such as the first, second and third prizes of Hunan Provincial Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Award Entrepreneurship Planning Competition, the second and third prizes of Hunan Vocational College Skills Competition, and the first, second and third prizes of Hunan Provincial Civilization Talent Competition for Secondary Vocational Schools, as well as the title of Hunan provincial Outstanding Student, Merit Student, Outstanding Student Cadre in high schools, Hunan provincial Merit Student, Outstanding Student Cadre in secondary vocational schools.
