In the 5th Hunan provincial Speech Contest "Building a Great China, building a Beautiful Hometown" held on November 22, Wang Jinglei, a student of HNMMC, won the second prize in the college group with the fourth place in the total score. Teacher Xu Kejing won the excellent advisor award.

The competition was jointly organized by Hunan Ethnic and Religious Committee, Education Department of Hunan Province and Hunan Communist Youth League of Hunan Provincial Party Committee. 30 presidents of junior colleges and technical secondary schools and ethnic minority students from middle schools participated in the competition. Wang Jinglei delivered a speech with the theme of "I accepted the President Xi's review", telling her experience of being a representative of 8 million people of Tujia nationality during the National Day and taking part in the "national unity" phalanx mass demonstrations in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. As a girl from Wuling mountain areas in west Hunan, she described her feelings about poverty alleviation and great changes at her hometown.Wang's speech won a warm applause of the audience and judges.

The college supported Wang Jinglei to participate in the competition by setting up a professional team by the Chinese Communist Youth League Committee and the Publicity United Front Work Department in speech draft writing, speech skills training and production of PPT. It also reflected the achievements of the college in giving full play to its professional advantages and vigorously promoting the ideological and political work of cultural education in recent years.
