On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the Opening Ceremony for 2019 Freshmen was held in the gymnasium on the afternoon of September 29. More than 4,000 freshmen and representatives of the faculty and students attended the ceremony, which was presided over by Vice President Lei Junlin. Yuan Weikun,Party Secretary of HNMMC, led all the teachers and students to take the oath under the national flag. President Ma Yujun delivered a speech. The College Leadership Liu Guoqing, Jiang Minquan, Cheng Guizhen, Xu Jingxue, Xie Jingwei, and the directors of the secondary schools (teaching departments) and departments attended the ceremony.

The opening ceremony kicked off in the majestic chinese national anthem. The college leaders awarded the college badge to the representatives of the 2019 freshmen. Li Bing, teacher’s representative and Dean of Film and Television Art School, He Meijun, senior students’ representative from Class 1701 of Business English Specialty in the International Communication School, and Zou Shengwen, freshman representative  from Class 1903 of Broadcasting and Hosting Speciality at the Film and Television Art School delivered speeches at the ceremony.

During the ceremony, President Ma Yujun, on behalf of the faculty and students, a speech to extend greetings 4031 freshmen. President Ma shared three strategies to pursue dreams for the freshmen: Commitment to the nation, embedding patriotism deeply inside your heart; high aspirations, achieving a better version of yourself in the college; and love in your heart,being a warm person in life. He hoped that they could start a journey of struggle for dreams without regrets.

At the opening ceremony, under the leading of Yuan Weikun, faculty and students took solemn oath under the chinese national flag to praise the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China: I am a citizen of the People's Republic of China! I do solemnly pledge to support the leadership of the Communist Party of China, be loyal to the motherland and the people, abide by the Constitution and laws, consciously fulfill the duties and obligations of the citizens, practice the core values of socialism, remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind, study and work hard to strive for the great rejuvenation of China!

After the opening ceremony, participants witnessed the Youth of Praise to the Motherland•Celebration for the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China chorus competition.
