It marked the launch of the competition that 157 contestants from 144 competition regions in 122 countries gathered in HNMMC for the rematch and the final stage of the 18th Chinese Bridge-Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students.

This year, the theme of the competition is One World One Family, which will last from July 25th to August 22nd. It will be divided into Cross-Bridge competition, rematch for the top 30 qualification, finals general, final and closing ceremony.

The organization of the competition in HNMMC has begun since July 21st when team of 16 professional teachers and 12 student volunteers went to Beijing. In the two days in Beijing, the Beijing working group completed a series of preliminary work such as picking up the contestants from the airport, registration, pre-competition’s professional counseling, convening the contestants’ meeting, organizing contestants to visit the Confucius Institute Headquarters, and contestants’ cultural experience in Beijing culture. Excellent teachers from HNMMC in business English, music performances, dance performances, broadcasting and hosting etc have conducted all-round pre-competition counseling for contestants in language, performance, shape and etiquette to help them to be engaged in the competition better and faster. 

The Cross-Bridge competition lasts from July 25th to July 27th. All contestants will in participate written examinations, personal speeches, Q&A session, talent shows according to the continents they belong to. The contestants who pass the Cross-Bridge will accumulate their scores to the rematch’s scores.

The written examination aims to test contestants’ applying ability of the Chinese language knowledge and their understanding of Chinese culture. The degree of difficulty of the examination is equivalent to that of the HSK3 to HSK6. It can examine their comprehensive ability of the Chinese language in listening, speaking, reading and writing. After the written examination, the score gaps among contestants will be gradually widened.

Since the launch of the18th Chinese Bridge-Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students, Yuan Weikun, the Secretary of the Party Committee of HNMMC, and Ma Yujun, the President of HNMMC, have carefully examined and approved the work programme and formed a professional team of talented personnel. Many special meetings of working deployment were held to implement the careful organization in reception, coordination, publicity, logistics, security in order to ensure the success of the competition.

Since the Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students was held in Hunan in 2007, especially the Base of International Promotion for Chinese Language and Culture was established in HNMMC, Chinese Bridge competitions have been held in HNMMC for 11 years.
