Recently, the third council meeting of the Chinese Language Center at Villa College was held at Chang'an University in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province. Attendees included Fan Wen, Chairman of the Council and Vice President of Chang'an University; Ali Najeeb, Vice Rector of Villa College; Xie Jingwei, Vice Chairman of the Council and Deputy Secretary of the CPC HNMMC Committee; Zhang Wei, Member of the Council and Dean of the International Education School of Chang'an University; Ms. Fathimath Shifaza, Director of the International Relations Office at Villa College; Wang Tao, Director of the International Exchange Division of HNMMC; Ahmed Yasir, Director of the Chinese Language Center from the Maldivian side; and Ma Yuehan, Director of the Center from the Chinese side. The meeting was chaired by Zhang Wei.
The meeting approved an adjusted list of council members and reviewed the 2024 work report and the 2025 work plan of the Chinese Language Center. The meeting also approved the design plan for the Center's logo. The three parties agreed to continue their collaborative efforts in building the Chinese Language Center at Villa College and emphasized the need to deepen cooperation over the next five-year contract period, seeking mutual development and jointly promoting the growth of the Center, which in turn will further advance Chinese language education in the Maldives. In-depth discussions were held on topics such as “Chinese Language + Majors”, the construction of internationally standardized courses, sending teachers for academic exchanges, supporting Villa College's discipline development, and facilitating study opportunities in China for Villa College faculty and students.
The successful convening of this council meeting yielded fruitful results, enhancing understanding and cooperation among the three parties and solidifying a strong foundation for the continuous development of the Chinese Language Center at Villa College.
Munnim, Vice Rector of Villa College, Fan Xing, Director of the Confucius Institute Office at Chang'an University's International Education School, and Xiao Yi, Deputy Director of HNMMC’s International Exchange Office, were present as observers.
