On the afternoon of May 10th, the inauguration ceremony of the Base for National Promotion of Chinese Language and Character (Hunan Mass Media Vocational and Technical College) and the Forum of Chinese Language and Character were held at the Dream Theater of the Art Building. He Zhanbing, Deputy Secretary of the CPC HNMMC Committee and President, Miao Gaoyong, Deputy Director of the Teacher Work and Normal Education Division of the Department of Education of Hunan Province, Yu Weixin, Director of the Spoken and Written Chinese Language Training and Testing Center of Hunan Province, Li Hongyan, Secretary of CPC Committee of the School of Broadcasting and Hosting Arts of the Communication University of China, Liu Jianjun, Vice President of Changsha Academy of Painting, Yang Shuiyuan, Deputy Director of the Base (Hunan First Normal University), Zhao Libo, Secretary of the Base (Hunan Normal University), and Chen Wenbo from the School of Humanities at Central South University attended the unveiling ceremony. Officials from relevant departments of the college and representatives of teachers and students also participated in the event. The unveiling ceremony was chaired by Vice President Shen Jianfei.
He Zhanbing delivered a welcome speech. On behalf of the college, he warmly welcomed the leaders and guests present at the scene, and introduced the basic situation of our college and the main practices and achievements of our college's spoken and written Chinese language work. He stated that the college will organically integrate spoken and written Chinese language work into the whole process of campus culture, majors construction, talent cultivation, social service, and international exchange, extensively carry out language promotion activities, assist rural revitalization, promote the dissemination of Chinese culture, and gradually form a media vocational education brand for Chinese language and character promotion. Taking this as an opportunity, the college will comprehensively implement the "five major tasks" of teacher education, digital empowerment, rural revitalization, inheritance research, and international cooperation, deepen the construction of the base, and contribute to the high-quality development of Chinese language and charater promotion in the new era.
Miao Gaoyong gave a speech. He congratulated the college on successfully establishing the Base and fully affirmed the efforts and contributions made by our college in promotion and popularization Chinese language and character. He pointed out that establishing the base is an important measure to implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions on education and important instructions on language and character, and to promote the high-quality development of spoken and written Chinese language undertakings. The college should rely on the Base, adhere to characteristic demonstration and guidance, and play a greater role in demonstrating and leading in the promotion and popularization of national standard spoken and written Chinese language, the inheritance and development of excellent Chinese language and culture, spoken and written Chinese language policy research, and the construction of language and culture platforms.
Yu Weixin highly praised the achievements of our college in spoken and written Chinese language promotion. He pointed out that the construction of the base should closely revolve around serving the major strategies such as building a strong country in education, a strong country in culture, and rural revitalization, as well as assisting the Belt and Road Initiative, strengthening the sense of community for the Chinese nation, and enhancing the national cultural soft power.
Subsequently, He Zhanbing and Miao Gaoyong jointly unveiled the Base (Hunan Mass Media Vocational and Technical College). This unveiling ceremony marks the beginning of a new journey for our college in the field of spoken and written Chinese language promotion.
At the event, a ceremony was held to appoint consultants and visiting professors for the base. He Zhanbing, on behalf of the college, presented appointment letters for consultants and visiting professors to Li Hongyan and Liu Jianjun. Afterwards, a book donation ceremony was held. The family of the outstanding Chinese journalist, newsman, and social activist Fan Changjiang congratulated the establishment of the base via video and presented three sets of books including The Later Generations of Changjiang Belong to Themselves Volumes One and Two, and Commemorative Collection for Fan Changjiang's Centennial Birthday. Shen Jianfei accepted the donated books on behalf of the college and expressed the intention to inherit and promote Fan Changjiang's revolutionary spirit and journalistic thoughts, and cultivate more media talents of the new era who adhere to the truth, prioritize the people, and serve the people.
Following the unveiling ceremony, a series of activities for the Spoken and Written Chinese Language Work Forum were held. Li Hongyan was invited to give an academic lecture titled "The Function and Mission of Language Communication", and the School of Film and Television Art organized a unique theme reading club titled "Home for the Heart".
