Recently, after a series of selections, three international students majoring in Modern Pop Music from HNMMC, namely Qiu Xiaohui, Cai Keli, and Jiang Zhenwei from Malaysia, appeared on the stage of Hunan TV to participate in the recording of the music variety show Come Sing with Me (Season 5). Among them, Qiu Xiaohui stood out from the hundred-member chorus and sang a classic song Small Town Girl with the singer Tao Zhe, successfully showcasing her musical talent on the Chinese variety stage and realizing her dream of performing on stage.
Qiu Xiaohui, born in Sabah, Malaysia, has been passionate about the stage since childhood and aspires to make singing her lifelong career. Although she signed with a record company in Malaysia in 2021, she decided to return to campus and travel across the ocean to study at our college, hoping to further enhance her musical literacy.
Since September 2023, our School of Film and Television Art has been admitting international students to the Modern Pop Music major as an important part of the "Chinese Language + Vocational Skills" training program. This major not only focuses on teaching basic courses such as Chinese language and culture, professional skills, but also strives to cultivate students' professional practical abilities and provide them with rich professional practice opportunities. In this activity, the in-depth interaction between international students and outstanding Chinese musicians enabled them to further experience the charm of Chinese modern pop music, accumulate valuable stage experience, broaden their professional horizons, enhance their musical skills, and inject new vitality into our college's international education.
