On January 22nd, the "Learn Chinese with Short Videos" - "Chinese Bridge" online winter camp, hosted by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation under the Ministry of Education and organized by our college, officially commenced. 107 students from 14 countries including Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Madagascar, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Morocco, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Zambia gathered online, embarking on a new journey of learning “Chinese Language + Short Video Production”.
During the opening ceremony, Deputy Secretary of the CPC HNMMC Committee, Xie Jingwei, delivered a speech. He expressed that with the rapid development of technology, short videos have become a new bridge for cultural exchange. Through the innovative model of "Chinese + Short Video Production", this winter camp aims to lead participants to appreciate the charm of Chinese and Hunan culture, while mastering the basic "grammar" of short videos, which is essential in this new media era. He hoped that students could better experience the joy of learning Chinese, appreciate Chinese culture, enhance personal media literacy, and improve cross-cultural communication abilities through the "Chinese Bridge" winter camp, thereby contributing to promoting exchanges and mutual learning between their countries and Chinese civilization, and to building a community with a shared future for humanity.
"We are very much looking forward to this winter camp! I believe that by combining short video production and Chinese learning, we can gain a deeper understanding of Chinese culture and history. I also hope to make friends with more peers from different countries and explore this dynamic field together." Representatives from Thailand, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Madagascar, and other countries expressed their expectations and confidence in this online Chinese journey.
It is understood that this winter camp lasts for two weeks, integrating the characteristics of the college's international Chinese education and media studies. It will conduct a series of courses including theme recorded lessons, live classes, and online activities around the theme of "Learning Chinese with Short Videos". Through a series of lively and interesting short videos, students will delve into Chinese vocabulary, grammar, and expression methods, experiencing the practical application of the language. At the same time, using short videos as a medium, they will explore traditional Chinese cultural projects, appreciate humanistic attractions with unique Hunan cultural characteristics, virtually tour Changsha, the "world media arts capital", and learn video production online. This winter camp aims to inspire students' enthusiasm and interest in learning Chinese through innovative teaching methods. By guiding international students in collaborative short video creation, participants can not only improve their Chinese proficiency but also broaden their international perspectives, cultivate cross-cultural communication abilities, and enhance friendship and cooperation among each other.
