On December 12th, the Ministry of Education announced the list of the third batch of National Spoken and Written Chinese Language Promotion Bases, and our college was successfully selected.
The approval as a National Spoken and Written Chinese Language Promotion Base adds a national-level platform for our college, marking a significant achievement in the spoken and written Chinese language work. It will also bring new development opportunities to the construction of language-related majors, talent cultivation, and community service in our college.
To deeply implement the spirits of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the Second Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee, and to fulfill the "Opinions on Strengthening the Work of Spoken and Written Chinese Language in the New Era" issued by the General Office of the State Council, the Ministry of Education and the National Language Commission organized the application and review process for the third batch of promotion bases. After a series of procedures including recommendations from provincial education (language work) departments, expert review, field inspection, and comprehensive evaluation, 65 units were proposed as the third batch of promotion bases. Among them, only our college and Central South University in Hunan were selected.
As a higher vocational college focusing on media, our college places great importance on spoken and written Chinese language promotion, fully leveraging the exemplary, leading, and radiating role of higher education institutions. This initiative is integrated into the college's educational goals and throughout the entire process of campus culture, major construction, talent cultivation, social service, and international exchanges. The college makes full use of its majors, faculty, equipment and other advantages to extensively carry out Mandarin promotion activities. These efforts contribute to poverty alleviation, rural revitalization, and the international promotion of Chinese culture, serving national strategies and gradually forming a brand in media vocational education for spoken and written Chinese language promotion. Our achievements have been frequently reported by mainstream media such as People's Daily, New Hunan, Hunan Satellite TV, and REDNET.CN.
In recent years, our college has been approved as a "Demonstration College for Standardization of Spoken and Written Chinese Language in Hunan Province" and a "National Demonstration College for Standardization of Spoken and Written Chinese Language", and has won honors such as "Advanced Unit in Mandarin Proficiency Testing Work in Hunan Province" and "Advanced Member Unit of Spoken and Written Chinese Language in Hunan Province" multiple times. In 2022, it was named as one of the first batch of Language Promotion Bases in Hunan Province. In 2023, the School of Film and Television Art was honored as an "Advanced Group for the Promotion and Popularization of Standard Spoken and Written Chinese Language", the only institution of higher learning in Hunan Province to receive this honor.
The college will take this opportunity to closely align with the national strategic deployment and key tasks of spoken and written Chinese language, and to deeply implement the "Four Major Projects" of spoken and written Chinese language promotion. It aims to make greater contributions in the areas of spoken and written Chinese language standardization, the promotion of Chinese culture, rural revitalization, and the strengthening of international exchanges and dissemination of language and culture.
