To strengthen the construction of major groups in HNMMC, further adjust and optimize the structure of major groups, and enhance the level of major group development, a special symposium on the adjustment of major groups was held on September 26th. The meeting was attended by all college leaders, middle-level executives, heads of various secondary schools and teaching departments, professors with senior titles, doctoral candidates, and directors of teaching and research offices. Party Secretary Li Sanfu delivered a speech and President He Zhanbing chaired the meeting.
During the meeting, Vice President Shen Jianfei presented a thematic report. The report elaborated on the importance of major group development, the connotation and basic characteristics of major groups, the scientific logic of major group formation, the current status and shortcomings of the college's major group development, and the future construction ideas. He stated that the college should take the logical thread of majors integrating with the industry and majors serving the industry. Based on the needs of Hunan's cultural and creative industry transformation and the "Three Hubs and Four Missions" strategy, as well as the "Culturally Strong Province" strategy, the college should actively integrate new technologies, standards, and norms. The focus should be on activities related to cultural media industry, digital creative industry, and digital service industry, aiming to create a diverse set of high-level major groups as leaders and characteristic major groups as supports.
Subsequently, the heads of various secondary schools made thematic reports on the construction of high-level major groups, the logic of major group formation, existing problems, and improvement suggestions. The directors of teaching and research offices of 34 majors reported on the status of major development, the positioning within major groups, and how to empower major group development through major development. The heads of the Development Planning Office, Academic Affairs Office, Research Management Office, and the College-Enterprise Cooperation Office respectively provided their suggestions on the adjustment of the major groups based on their departmental work.
When delivering his speech, Li Sanfu pointed out that the construction of major groups is not only the "bull's nose" of the development of higher vocational education but also the "main valve" reflecting the development level of each vocational college. He emphasized that all teachers should accurately grasp the new stage of development, implement the new development concept, and build a new development pattern. The college should align with the national standards for selecting "Double High" colleges, identify and address shortcomings, and strengthen weaknesses. In alignment with the provincial goals for “Double High” college construction, precise efforts should be made to ensure the timely and high-quality completion of construction tasks. Li Sanfu stressed that each secondary school and relevant department should take this symposium as an opportunity to further clarify the correspondence between major groups and industrial chains, majors and industries, and courses and positions. The logic and ideas of major group development should be further refined, and the college's major features should be crystallized. The construction of the content of major groups such as industrial colleges, curriculum systems, teacher teams, and training bases should be accelerated to expand and strengthen the college's advantages continuously, promoting the development of the college's education to a new level.
In his concluding speech, He Zhanbing emphasized that the advancement of major group construction work should first and foremost be unified with a high sense of mission and responsibility. Ideological unity should be achieved in the construction of high-level major groups, fostering unity, cooperation, and integration to inject vigorous force into the high-quality completion of construction tasks. Secondly, the construction of major groups should be planned comprehensively, progressing at different levels with goals as the guide, implementing precise measures to achieve the task of major group construction effectively. Thirdly, the construction of major groups should proceed in tandem with routine work, and taking advantage of this symposium on the adjustment of major groups, overall improvements in the college's major development level should be achieved, laying a solid foundation for the college to achieve its goals.
