On July 24th, Li Sanfu, the Secretary of the CPC HNMMC Committee, and Zhu Dan, member of the CPC Committee and Vice President of HNMMC, braved the scorching sun and went to Shazhou Village, Rucheng County to visit the college students’ summer social practice volunteer service team for "Promoting Mandarin to Support Rural Revitalization" from the School of Film and Television Art.
During the visit, Li Sanfu led the teachers and students to visit the "Warmth of Half a Quilt" special exhibition hall, watched the microfilm "Half of the Quilt", visited the left-behind children in Shazhou Village, and donated stationery, school bags, "1000 Common Mandarin Phrases," and "General Dictionary for Elementary and Middle School Students" as learning materials. He summarized this "Promoting Mandarin to Support Rural Revitalization" activity with six "highs". First, it was of high standard. The leading teachers for this activity were highly qualified, and the village secretary of Shazhou Village personally accompanied them, demonstrating a high level of attention. Second, the enthusiasm was high. Both the participating students and the villagers displayed a high level of enthusiasm. Third, the level of performance was high. The eight participating students demonstrated excellent levels of proficiency, whether in research, teaching, or performance. Fourth, the dedication was high. Despite the sweltering heat, the teachers and students of the Mandarin promotion team persevered and overcame various difficulties, showing admirable dedication. Fifth, the efficiency was high. The teachers and students who were on vacation quickly gathered from all directions, successfully completing the tasks required by the Ministry of Education and achieving the set goals. Sixth, the gains were high. The students gained a lot from this activity, not only acquiring knowledge and showcasing their talents but also making significant contributions. The students and villagers in Shazhou Village also learned how to speak Mandarin well and promote agricultural products through live streaming.
It is reported that the 2023 national college students’ summer social practice volunteer service activity for "Promoting Mandarin to Support Rural Revitalization" was organized by the Department of Language Application and Administration of the Ministry of Education and the Youth Development Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League. Li Bing, the Director of the School of Film and Television Art, and teachers Huang Jing and Lv Xinyan formed the guiding teacher team. They led the Mandarin promotion team of eight students to conduct a series of activities in Shazhou Village, including research on Mandarin promotion, rural interviews, "Exemplifying Chinese Classics" reading, sharing of experience and skills in e-commerce live streaming, spoken and written language challenges, and a Mandarin promotion exchange meeting.
As an advanced institution in promoting the standard spoken and written Chinese language, the School of Film and Television Art has consistently focused on implementing the spirit of the National Spoken and Written Language Work Conference and the development plan of the national spoken and written language cause. They have increased the promotion efforts of standard spoken and written Chinese language in ethnic and rural areas and improved the overall popularity of standard spoken and written Chinese language.
