On June 6th, the results of the 11th National "TipDM Cup" Data Mining Challenge were announced. A team composed of faculty and students from the School of New Media Technology of HNMMC achieved excellent results, winning three second prizes and one third prize, ranking among the top in colleges and universities across the province.
The competition, organized by the "TipDM Cup" Data Mining Challenge Organizing Committee, officially started on February 18th and lasted for two months. A total of 3,811 teams from over 300 colleges and universities across the country, with a total of 10,516 students, signed up to participate. The proportions of first, second, and third prizes were 2%, 5%, and 10%, respectively. The challenge questions mainly came from practical problems of enterprises, management organizations, and research institutes, requiring participants to have knowledge of statistics and data mining, as well as proficiency in relevant software.
Led by teachers Zhang Yuanyuan, Huang Xuan, Wang Ting, Sun Linglin, and Chang Ancheng from the School of New Media Technology, the students started preparations in early February. After more than two months of hard training, the teams led by Zhang Yuanyuan, Huang Xuan, and Wang Ting won second prizes, while Sun Linglin's team won a third prize. This fully demonstrates the good professional skills and excellent spirit of our faculty and students, achieving the goal of promoting learning, teaching, and research through competitions, promoting the integration of "post, course, competition, and certificate" in skills talent training, and adding new landmark achievements to the major group construction in the school.
