In the online class, teacher Zhu Dan gave 134 students from Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and other countries a gift of "Hunan Specialties" for the Chinese New Year.

This course, titled Taste of Hunan, was divided into four chapters: Hunan porcelain, Hunan embroidery, Hunan cuisine and Hunan opera, introducing to the participants the porcelain, cuisine, embroidery and opera of Hunan from the perspective of history and culture, regional characteristics and customs. The lecturer explained in depth the human geography concept of "Hunan" with a lot of illustrations and texts by introducing the Tongguan town of ancient kiln, Liling the capital of porcelain, Shaping town, Changsha’s night market, huagu opera stage. Among them, the section of Hunan Porcelain: Underglaze Multicolored Hunan starts from the wreck of the "Black Stone" of the Tang Dynasty recovered from the waters of Billiton, Indonesia, which told the story that since the Tang and Song Dynasties, Hunan porcelain, with the help of advanced navigation technology, went out of Hunan to go global and opened up a sea ceramic road to South Asia and North Africa. The course "Hunan Cuisine: A Bite of Hot Hunan" focused on the original flavor characteristics of Hunan cuisine- "the spicier, the better". "Hunan Embroidery: The Great Beauty of Hunan under the Needle Tip" highlighted the distinctive Hunan’s Chu cultural characteristics of Hunan embroidery, which is one of the four famous embroideries in China. "Hunan Opera: The Accent of Hunanese" showed the participants the "high and low tunes singing" and "the four consecutive stages" of Hunan opera ... The introduction of these "Hunan specialties" with distinct cultural identities presented a colorful and attractive Hunan, with splendid mountains and rivers, abundant history and products, and galaxy of talents.

During the class, the Thai high school students, who were just beginning to learn Chinese, could not help bursting out a few long sentences in their native language and marveled at the beautiful photos of Hunan embroidery, "I really want to see how beautiful the embroidery is in Hunan with my own eyes!" Thai teacher Xuanni Zheng translated for her students. "After listening to this lesson, I really want to buy a ticket to Changsha to taste the food, listen to Hunan opera, and bring home Hunan embroidery and porcelain."

It is reported that this year is the tenth anniversary of the "Belt and Road" initiative. To further strengthen the cultural exchange, language cooperation and mutual learning and appreciation of civilizations with countries along the "Belt and Road", and help "Hunan specialties" to go global, HNMMC worked as the organizer and carefully designed the curriculum of this winter camp.
