On December 9, 2022, the results of the fifth National "TipDM Cup" Data Analysis Skills Competition were announced. Two teams formed by our students and teachers of the School of New Media Technology won the first and second prizes, and the grades of the competition ranked among the top of the colleges universities in the province.
In 2022, there were 1,603 teams from 249 colleges and universities in China participating in the competition. Teachers Zhang Yuanyuan and Wei Kaiming from the School of New Media Technology respectively led the group of students Wen Da, Zhao Yijia and Yu Gangqiang, and the group of students You Liang, Wang Jiachen and Sun Ze, to prepare for the competition since early September. After more than two months of painstaking training, the two groups participated in the event on November 12 and 13 to join the exam A and exam B respectively. Finally, the group led by Zhang Yuanyuan ranked in the top 8% of the country and won the first prize, while the group led by Wei Kaiming ranked between 8%-12% of the country and won the second prize, fully demonstrating the solid professional skills and exquisite spirit of our teachers and students.
It is reported that the "TipDM Cup" Data Analysis Skills Competition is a science and technology competition for students in colleges and universities nationwide, sponsored by the National Student Mathematical Modeling Competition Organization Committee. It is an extension of mathematical modeling competition in the direction of data analysis, and has become an influential discipline competition in the field of data analysis nationwide, aiming at testing students' comprehensive ability to solve practical problems by using data analysis methods and boosting the promotion and application of data mining technology in colleges and universities.
