A few days ago, Gan Zihong, a Chinese teacher dispatched by HNMMC, arrived at the Chinese Language Center at Villa College in Maldives.
On the morning of August 14th local time, Ahmed Anwar extended a warm welcome to the Chinese personnel of the Chinese Language Center on behalf of Villa College. Vice President Ali Najeeb of Villa College introduced in detail the purpose of school-running, specialties setting, international exchange and development of Villa College, and made suggestions on the development of the Chinese Language Center. Ahmed Yasir, the Maldivian director of the Chinese Language Center, welcomed and thanked the Chinese personnel for overcoming the impact of the pandemic and other factors. He introduced the potential demand and preliminary ideas for Chinese language learning in the Maldives, and said that he would make concerted efforts to work with the Chinese director in the center’s planning and development.
Liu Yu, as the Chinese director of the center, who arrived at the same time, expressed her sincere gratitude to Villa College for its support before and after the arrival of the first batch of Chinese personnel. She said that he would familiarize herself with the working environment as soon as possible. Under the leadership of three colleges, the center would prepare and complete the opening ceremony as early as possible, make a medium and long-term development plan, and offer Chinese courses to meet the diversified needs of the Maldives. She hoped that based on Chinese language teaching, the center would build a platform for cultural and academic exchanges between China and Maldives, and enhance the friendship between the two countries peoples.
It is reported that in March 2020, with the approval of the former Confucius Institute Headquarters, Chang'an University and Hunan Mass Media Vocational and Technical College became the Chinese hosting institutions for the Chinese Language Center at Villa College, Maldives. Affected by the global COVID-19 pandemic, the first batch of Chinese personnel would go to appointed post in August 2022, including the first Chinese director of the Chinese Language Center and the first public-errand Chinese teacher.As the only Base for International Promotion of Chinese Language and Culture established by higher vocational colleges, approved by former Hanban. HNMMC has long been committed to the international communication of Chinese language and culture. The college has held the "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students for consecutive 12 years and was awarded the "Chinese Bridge" 20-year Outstanding Contribution Award by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education. HNMMC is the first vocational college in Hunan province approved to enroll international students in Hunan province, and the first vocational college in the country to host an overseas Chinese language center in China.
