In the scorching hot August, the sun blazed like fire. On August 14th and 15th, Li Sanfu, Secretary of the College Party Committee, led a team to carry out the "Thousands of Teachers Entering Thousands of Homes" home visits activity, and sent solatium and supplies to “students who need special attention” in Dongkou County and Longhui County in Shaoyang city. Vice President Lei Junlin, relevant heads of the Publicity and United Front Work Department, Student Affairs Division, and the School of Journalism and Communication, as well as teachers and counselors, accompanied the visit.

Li Sanfu and his entourage went to Linjiang Village, Huangqiao Town, Dongkou County, and Xinjiaqiao Village, Nanyuemiao Town, Longhui County to visit the homes of Xie Luyao and Chen Guanghua, students majoring in Network Journalism and Communication from the School of Journalism and Communication. Xie Luyao and Chen Guanghua are both outstanding students from rural families with financial difficulties. Xie serves as the monitor of her class and has won National Encouragement Scholarships twice, as well as provincial and school-level competition awards. Chen Guanghua has won the college's first-class bursary for two consecutive years. In the visit to the families of the poor students, Li Sanfu learned about their living conditions and /difficulties, introduced the students' study and living conditions in school and the college's financial assistance policies to the parents, and encouraged the students to overcome temporary difficulties, make consistent efforts in study and professional and technical skills improvement, and strive to be excellent college students with all-round development of morals, intelligence, physical fitness, work and aesthetics, aiming to use the knowledge to change the fate of the family and repay the society.

"Thank you, teachers, for visiting me in such a hot weather. I will definitely study hard, live up to the help of the school, the entrustment of the leaders, and the expectations of my family. I will strive to become a talent as soon as possible, reduce the burden on the family, and contribute to the construction of the country." Xie Luyao said.

The "Thousands of Teachers Entering Thousands of Homes" home visit activities were conducted twice during the winter and summer vacations. The key targets in the visit are the students from single-parent family or family with financial difficulties, students with academic and employment difficulties, students with disabilities, and students who met with severe calamity.

The college Party committee attached great importance to the care and love for students from financially disadvantaged families. Since the launch of the home visits in January this year, the college has established a special work leading group and held special meetings to deploy related work, establishing a home visits work mechanism with college leadership taking the lead, the middle-level cadres setting an example, and rational combination of the counselors (including part-time counselors) and the teachers. A total of 30 "students who need special attention" have been visited, and scientific education guidance and personalized care were provided for them. It helped the parents establish a correct view of talent cultivation and the students grow up healthily, effectively strengthening the connection between family education and school education, and forming a trinity education pattern of society, school and family. The activity promoted the healthy development of students' physical and mental health, and enhanced the college's school-running level and the recognition and satisfaction of the college brand from the general public, establishing a good image of vocational education. At present, the college's summer vacation visit work is being carried out in an orderly manner, which will bring warmth, comfort and best wishes to more students in need.
