On the morning of September 22, the college held a fire safety lecture and emergency fire fighting drill at the stadium. More than 3,400 freshmen listened to the report and participated in the drill.
The lecture was delivered by Yang Wei, an instructor from Xiangdang Safety Company. Focusing on the theme of “draw public attention to firefighting and put life first”, Yang introduced the abilities to eliminate fire hazards, to put out a fire in the first place, to organize people to evacuate and self-rescue, and to promote firefighting education and training. He gave a comprehensive interpretation of the pragmatic knowledge of fire safety on campus by presenting some cases that are prone to fire accidents, such as students using high-power electrical appliances and immersion heater in violation of regulations dormitory.
At the event site, some students participated in fire fighting drill. Yang Wei gave a detailed explanation on the operation essentials of the fire extinguisher, that is, “lift- pull- aim- eliminate”, and “aiming to the root of the flame and avoiding standing in the draught of downwind”. Students actively participated in the fire fighting exercise.
After the activity, the students said that they would enhance their safety awareness, improve fire emergency response capabilities, consciously use electricity complying with the regulations, and do a solid work on fire safety in dormitory and campus.
This lecture was designed to promote the fire safety knowledge during the military training, enhance the fire safety awareness of our students, and improve their emergency response capabilities of safety precautions, self-rescue, and escape.
