On the afternoon of July 14, Sun Yimin, director of the School of International Communication, and He Wei, Secretary of the Party branch, and other 4 teachers visited Hunan TV International to conduct investigation and exchange activities on the media English talent cultivation orientation. Wan Shaoguang, Deputy Director of Hunan TV International, and staff Hu Zhenye and Liao Sisi participated in the exchange.
At the meeting, Wan Shaoguang shared the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech on strengthening China’s international communication capabilities and the resulting change in the direction of international communication. He also introduced the brand orientation, value orientation, and major columns and special projects of Hunan TV International. Sun Yimin and He Wei respectively introduced the current professional structure of the School of International Communication, the idea of establishing Media English specialty, and the main purpose of this visit. Based on educational background and working experience, Hu Zhenye and Liao Sisi respectively elaborated on the industry needs of international communication talents and the knowledge and skills they should possess. They stressed that the international communication industry needs the interdisciplinary talents with both media literacy and foreign language abilities.
Both sides also reached cooperation intention in the aspects of students’ internship, mutual recruitment of personnel, and cooperative construction of curriculum.
